Our home is comfortable, clean, and spacious. It has a large kitchen with adjoining dining room. The best room of the house is our Garden Room which has windows at all aspects and overlooks the gardens with a view of the mountains. The Garden Room also has a wood burning stove which makes it a really cosy room to enjoy day and night. In addition to this room we have a lounge and playroom. Our garden has many shrubs, flowers and a vegetable patch. We have a large driveway and our house is situated in a quiet cul-de-sac.
We are Katie and Paul. (Paul is an actuary and Katie works part-time selling fantastic rooms in historical castles). We are in our 30's with two children under school age.
We are a close family and love to spend quality time together. Walking to the nearby town to feed the ducks and enjoy lunch in one of the many cafes is a favourite pastime.
We are considering emmigrating to Melbourne and therefore hope to go to check things out in the latter part of this year. We thought that by doing a part exchange in Melbourne, close to the CBD, we would get more of a feel of "real life.
Our house is in a beautiful village called Heptonstall set high up in the Pennines.
Ideally located as a touring base, our village offers easy access to the cities of Manchester, Leeds and York.
Heptonstall has a wealth of history with properties dating back to 1545. The village was home to the textile industry in the 16th century.
Bronte country is just 9 miles away with Haworth, the home of the Brontes being a popular tourist destination.
A fantastic location for walkers and cyclists and you don't even need to get in a car.
1 mile away is Hebden Bridge, featured in British Airways in-flight magazine as one of the funkiest places in the world to live.
For teenagers and thrill seekers Blackpool Pleaure Beach is a train ride away with The Big One, the tallest, fastest rollercoaster in Europe.
The train station is 1 mile away in Hebden Bridge and there is a very good bus service.
