Our home

The accommodation comprises two buildings which are available together or individually and both the farmhouse and the cottage have a wealth of original, exposed oak beams, flag floors and mullion windows. The house has four bedrooms sleeping 7, the master bedroom is ensuite with a walkin shower room and there is a large family bathroom with claw foot, stand alone bath and seperate corner shower. It has a study, 2 sitting rooms, one with a woodburning stove and the large farmhouse kitchen has an AGA range. The dining area is a conservatory which is attached to the kitchen and has lovely views of the garden and countryside. We have converted the barn into a cosy cottage, downstairs there is a kitchen and dining hall and upstairs there are 2 double bedrooms an ensuite shower room and full bathroom and a large loft sitting room with lovely views across the valley.

Who we are

  1. Philip and I have been married for thirty six years and are, hopefully, in the process of retiring and although business ventures seem to keep tempting my husband back to work, we plan to take more time out to visit our far flung family and our holiday apartment in Mallorca. Our eldest son lives in Vancouver and our daughter and younger son live in Amsterdam with their partners. Whilst we love to visit our family we enjoy our own space which is where the idea of home exchanging has come from. We both play lots of golf and walk our two Labradors for miles. When we visit Canada in the winter we enjoy skiing so would love to exchange for ski accommodation. We have lived in our warm and welcoming home for almost thirty years and would be delighted for you to share the experience. The beachside Spanish apartment, which sleeps six, would be an alternative or additional exchange, say for a two centre visit to Europe and If you would like to exchange just the cottage (is not including the farmhouse) and/or the Spanish apartment the exchanges would not need to be simultaneous.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our beautiful home is situated in the foothills of the Pennines known as the backbone of England. It is only a short journey from the start of the famous Pennine Way walk which extends to Kirk Yetham, Scotland! The house has panoramic views from almost every window and we are able to walk straight from our door into the most spectacular British landscape. The local village is less than a mile away and is a cluster of tea rooms, antique shops and a post office and the railway station is nearby. Despite our rural location we are only a forty minute car or train journey into vibrant Manchester, where big city living, including designer shopping, theatre, museums and galleries and fine dining can be enjoyed at its very best. We live pretty much in the centre of Britain and are almost equidistant from London and Edinburgh. The Lake District and the beautiful beaches of Wales are less than two hours away and both make for a great day trip.
