Our home

We bought this farmhouse as a wreck 15 years ago and have spent all these years doing it up. The house is full of Georgian and earlier furniture and paintings. I care passionately about restoring old buildings to their former glory, this house dates back to 1750.
On the ground floor there is a large kitchen with aga, utility room which was once the cheese room, games room, sitting room, cloakroom, drawing room, dining room and study. There is a cellar which houses the ping pong table. Upstairs there are two very large double bedrooms one with en suite bathroom and the other having access to a bathroom which is shared with a small double bedroom. A single room with four poster bed, a twin bedroom and another single, plus bathroom, all leading off a very large and spacious landing.
Tennis is a great family favourite and the boys are very keen cricketers, hence the net.
Bev, my cleaning lady comes in twice a week and Paul tends the vegetables which are there for your enjoyment.
There are 8 acres of garden, croquet lawn, orchard, meadow, fields and a lake to loose yourself in, and no neighbours within shouting distance, it really is a piece of heaven set in the heart of the English Countryside.

Property features

Who we are

  1. My name is Sarah and I am married to Richard and we have two sons, James (14) and Pip (12).
I am an antiques dealer and Richard is a banker working three days a week in London and two from home. I love going to auctions and sales and rummaging around antique shops, there is a very good auction 15 miles away where one always finds something interesting. Although none of us ride there are some riding stables and tuition centre very close by which many of our friends use.
We have two pet pigs called Willa and Ceci who will be here for the house swap but I will arrange for someone to come and feed them, three dogs and half a dozen chickens.
The boys are desperate to travel somewhere that is close to the sea, we have never done a house swap before but it does seem an extremely good idea. We have two cars, a huge Volvo Estate and a Subaru Legacy, both automatic.
