Our home

Our beautiful home in Lydiate was lovingly restored by ourselves 6 years ago. It's a converted barn/farmhouse set in the English countryside with beautiful views across open farmland. The rooms are large and spacious and the whole of the ground floor (which benefits from underfloor heating) is finished with travertine marble.
The living room which is set on a mezzanine floor with a glass balcony, is the main feature of the house. It has an oak floor, full height ceiling, modern wood burning stove and original oak roof trusses on clear display.
With a floor to ceiling "barn" feature window and 4 skylights, the house is bathed in warm sunlight.
The fully fitted kitchen has granite work tops and extends into a comfortable snug area with leather tub chairs and a wood burning stove.
There are 3 bedrooms, (1 downstairs), and the master has an en-suite with a bath. The second bedroom has a mezzanine floor with a sofa bed available.
There are 2 more bathrooms each containing a shower.
The house has a multi room multi media system fitted enabling access to satellite tv, broadband wi fi, and thousands of albums on a server. There are also 5 flat wall mounted LED/LCD tv's.
Externally, a decked balcony extends from the first floor landing offering views of the garden, paddock and farmland towards Ormskirk.

Who we are

  1. My wife Sue and I are in our early 50's and have 3 sons who have now left home following their University education. Our eldest lives and works in Perth as a Geologist and whilst we have been there twice we are keen to return and see even more of Australia - to start with!
We are keen cyclists and cycle the Lancashire Lanes each weekend with the local club based in Ormskirk.
We enjoy travelling, ski-ing, running and dining out.
Sue owns a local cafe/juice bar in Ormskirk and I am a qualified Building Surveyor/Chartered Builder employed by a local Housing Association as a Maintenance Manager.
