Our home

Our home is detached in a small cul-de-sac of 10 detached properties. We have 3 bedrooms, a living room, dining room, study, kitchen, bathroom, separate WC and a conservatory. We have a good-size garden with trees and shrubs and a log cabin. Our home is clean and comfortable with an open fire.

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are Karen and Alex and we have two boys, aged 8 and 10. Alex and I are both student nurses having decided to undergo a mid-life career change. Alex used to have his own importing business and I previously worked as an Administrator. We have not done a home exchange before but see it as a good way to experience a holiday abroad whilst we are training. We are interested in Canada and Nova Scotia in particular as Alex is Scottish and has always had a pipedream of living there one day.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We live in the smallest county in England covering an area of 16 miles wide by 11 miles long. Rutland Water, a giant reservoir, attracts visitors from all over the UK and is popular for fishing, walking, cycling and sailing. There are two market towns and 54 traditional rural villages in Rutland. Lyddington is one of the most picturesque and historic villages consisting of mainly stone built and thatched cottages, some dating back to the 1600's. Lyddington Bede House, an Historic Monument can be traced back to 1320. We are 90 miles from London with a 50-minute train journey to London from Kettering (20 mins by car).
