Our home

The Old School House has four bedrooms and two bathrooms (one en-suite) upstairs. Downstairs offers a huge dining kitchen, a large living room as well as a children's play room, a utility room, a cloakroom and a downstairs toilet.

We have completely refurbished the house and garden over the last 4 years, so all rooms and garden are completely lovely and also very practical for kids.

Outside there is a kids safe walled garden with a terrace, a decked area and a lawn as well as a garage that has been converted to be part office and part garden shed. The driveway fits two cars.

Who we are

  1. Neil is English and a personal development author, life coach and consultant.
Benedicte is Danish and a full time mummy who is writing her first book. Our daughter Minnie is 3.5 and our son Casper is 1.5 years old.

We are going to Denmark to visit family living in Vedbaek so are looking for something relatively close to that.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The Old School House has an amazing location on the edge of the village of Westwood with views of over 30km to the Mendip Hills.

Besides from our little village our local town (10,000 inhabitants) is called Bradford on Avon, which can be found 1.5km away. It is a very pretty town with shops, cafes and lovely walks along the river.

If you want more town we are only 9km away from Bath (100,000 inhabitants) which is a extraordinarily beautiful city. Loads of cafes, restaurants, museums of course the world renowned Bath Spa which was opened by the three tenors.

Within walking distance of the house are the fabulous Italianate gardens of Iford Manor, Westwood Manor, Farleigh Hungerford Castle, The Aqueduct at Avon Cliff and the Kennet and Avon Canals.

The area is good fun if you have kids with a safe and flat cycle path along the river and canal where you can either rent bicycles or canoes. There are also good indoor playcentres in the area if you prefer. If you are into walking there are great walks as this is a very popular area for local walking and running clubs.

Bath, Cheddar Gorge, Glastonbury, Lackock village and abbey, Wells, Sailisbury, Stonehenge and Stourhead Gardens are not far by car.

The M4 and M5 motorways, the airport at Bristol and the railway at Bradford-on-Avon, with direct trains to Bath, Salisbury, London Waterloo and Cardiff enable rapid transport to most parts of the UK. You can also cycle to Bradford on Avon or Bath along the canal.
