“This is the second time we have stayed here and again we had a fantastic time. The weather was sunny nearly every day. The house was immaculate with a great welcome pack for us and the kids. This house really has a holiday feel to it and with great views from the lounge of the river Forth and a 1 minute walk to the beach - what more could you ask for. Lots of interesting things to do in the area, especially the small fishing villages and of course St Andrews. On return to our house, we found it probably even cleaner than when we left it. We thoroughly recommend a swap with Paulene and family.”

Our home
Our home is a late Edwardian terraced house (built 1925) with south facing, panoramic, sea views overlooking the Firth of Forth towards Edinburgh and East Lothian.
We have renovated over the past few years to provide a large family kitchen with integrated appliances and open plan, adjoining dining room. There is a walk in pantry which also houses the washing machine. The south facing living room has a bay window with sea views and an open fireplace for use on winter evenings. There is Apple TV with Bose speakers, DVD and an Apple iMac along with wireless internet.
Upstairs is a south facing master bedroom with double bed and fitted wardrobes. This has a large walk in storage room which will eventually be turned into an en suite. There is also a child's bedroom with single bed. We can add another small child's bed if required. There is a recently renovated family bathroom with extra wide bath and overhead shower, photos of this to follow soon.
There is a south facing patio area directly in front of the house with steps down to the lawn. The back garden is newly block paved for easy maintenance with a small patch of grass and potted shrubs. Part of the garage at the rear of the property has been converted into an art studio and also houses the tumble drier. There is an adjoining summer house which mostly holds a selection of our sons bikes, scooters and other outdoor toys. There are 2 adult and 3 children's bikes and many children's toys and family games available for use.
We are happy to include our 2017 model Volvo V40 for use during your stay if required.

“We had a fantastic holiday in this great part of Scotland. The house is decorated in a groovy beach/seaside style and very clean. There is a wonderful view from the lounge which looks over the Firth of Forth. It is a one minute walk to the beach, which is sandy and has lots of interesting shells. There are some great little fishing ports nearby. Paulene was very helpful in all our communications. Overall, a very memorable house swap.”
Who we are
-
We are Roddy and Paulene (both in our 50's) and our 11 year old son Brandon. Roddy is a Construction Project Manager for our local authority and Paulene works part-time as a Senior Graphic Designer. Roddy is an Elder in our local church, a member of our local theatre group and both him and Brandon are members of the village sailing club. Paulene enjoys antiques and designing in her art studio. We all love the cinema, skiing, cycling and eating out. We are well travelled and enjoy exploring Scotland as much as visiting other countries and experiencing new cultures. Our first exchange to Cambridge in 2014 was a great success largely due to the advice and tips from our lovely, more experienced hosts. We had our second exchange in Cornwall in 2015 and this time met our friendly exchangers who welcomed us home with tea and cake!!
We are now ready to experience a swap further afield and search somewhere warm and sunny, close to a beach would be a bonus.

Where is it?
Your neighbourhood
Lower Largo is a small coastal village in the East Neuk of Fife. Once a bustling fishing village it is now a slow paced, family community surrounded by green countryside and traditional fishing villages. It is the 1676 birthplace of Alexander Selkirk, the inspiration for Daniel Dafoe's 'Robinson Crusoe' and bears a memorial statue above his place of birth some steps from our house. The Fife Coastal Path runs in front of our garden where you can access the full 117 miles of coast from the Forth Estuary in the south, to the Tay Estuary in the north. There is a children's play park directly behind our house and your toes can be touching the sand on the beach within 1 minute of leaving our front doorstep.
There are many local activities such as, golf, tennis, fishing, hillwalking, horse riding, cycling, swimming, water sports and the local sailing club is directly in front of our home. The local Lundin Links Ladies Golf Course is the oldest woman's golf course in the world and the famous Old Course of St Andrews is one of many courses within a short drive from Largo.
As well as it's 6 award-winning 'Blue Flag Beaches', Fife has an incredibly rich social and cultural heritage. It has 9 municipal museums as well as the nearby Scottish Fisheries Museum in Anstruther and the world renowned Golf Museum in St Andrews. Ancient castles, royal dwellings and religious abbeys can be found all within a short drive from Lower Largo. There are theatres, art galleries, arts festivals and many craft & music events to experience during your visit.
The medieval town of Falkland and medieval University town of St Andrews are both approx 15 minutes drive away. We are situated in central Scotland with the cities of Edinburgh, Perth, Dundee and Stirling town all approx an hours drive away. Transport infrastructure in Fife is excellent and you can travel anywhere by car, bus or train.
