Our home

Our home is right by the mighty River Severn which is famous for its tidal bore.
We love it ! check out www.youtube.com/watch?v=IKA39LQOIck
From all the living floor windows you can see the river flowing - the views are extraordinary and constantly changing. Magnificent sunsets. The accomodation comprises -Kitchen/dining room, living room and study. 2 double bedrooms, one with ensuite. 2 single bedrooms and main bathroom with shower. Courtyard garden, balcony over river, enclosed front garden. There are two bathrooms. Lots of books, broadband, DVD/CD player, large LED TV, record player, Bose CD player. The Severn Way walk passes the house and you can walk straight out along the river - 15 minutes walk to the local pub where you can eat and watch the river. You can walk or cycle the Sharpness Canal route which is about a mile away.
Also available are all the Cotswold local features such as ; the Cheltenham Literary Festival, Stroud International Textile Festival, Stroud Valleys Arts Open Studios, Badminton Horse Trials, Gatcombe 3 day event, Stroud Farmers Market, Famous Gloucester Cathedral, the Forest of Dean, Sudely and Berkely Castle, Gloucestershire open gardens, Frampton Fair, Symonds Yat ( for kayaking and Peregrine watching), Prinknash Abbey, Slimbridge Water Fowl Centre, Royal Tetbury, Giffords Circus in the summer and much more.
Cheltenham, Gloucester, Stroud and Bristol are close by car. The Motorway is only minutes away. Train services to London run regularly from Stonehouse which is 15 minutes away.
Bristol takes about 45 minutes by car and has everything you need from a big city including theatres, restaurants and museums.

There are great places to eat for every budget including the best fish restaurant in the South West - The Old Passage, Arlingham.

We may be able to leave our small car and bicycles for you too. We also have a small Mitsubishi Delica campervan which you could take on longer journeys out. Just ask.

Who we are

  1. We are Pamela and James, aged 60 and 66 respectively.
We are passionate about our river cottage and love the area here.
We have grown up children and grandchildren living close by and spend a lot of time with them. The house is relaxed and has all the things children need and isn't a fragile place!
We are experienced global exchangers and will take the greatest care of your home.
We both love our garden and there are 2 - a sunny courtyard which can be accessed from the bedrooms and a front 'seaside' garden with a decked balcony for river watching.
We love to travel and are looking for a number of different kinds of exchange. We sometimes take our grandchildren Kara, aged 16 and Sammie aged 11 away during summer and half terms and so are looking for exchanges where we can do this too. Mostly though, we travel just the two of us.
We are looking for inspiration for our next adventure. Any ideas ?

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We have the best of both worlds, whether you want to wander the river banks, cook a salmon on the outdoor grill or shop till you drop in Cheltenham before seeing a show.
You can reach Avebury or Bath in an hour, The Rollright Stones or Stonehenge are an easy drive and Royal Tetbury is 20 minutes away.
There are trains which get you to central London within 2 hours. You can reach Stratford on Avon within an hour and Cheltenham Spa within 45 minutes, which is great for shopping, the Literature Festival and of course the races.
There's easy access to Oxford and the midlands too. Access to the South west coasts is also a straight run on the motorway.
30 minutes away Stroud has an award winning Farmers Market every Saturday and various festivals through the year.
But the best thing about our location is the mighty river. If you feel really brave then surf the bore ....or just watch it from the deck. We spend hours collecting wood and interesting ancient items washed up by the tide. This is a unique experience.
