Our home

We live in a spacious annexe of an exceptional Georgian (c.1740) house. The living area is modern, light and airy with a separate kitchen, bathroom with power shower and conservatory (used as a playroom). Upstairs in the main house are the bedrooms and 1 of 2 bathrooms with a very romantic with cottage feeling to them; there are three good double rooms and one single / nursery (cots and a travel cot are available); a bathroom and spacious landing area; all rooms have fantastic views over our beautiful garden and the chalk hills that surround the house where there are plenty of good walks. The gardens are formal and just over 3 acres (1.21 hectares)with large trampoline, swings, slide and sand pit and bicycles. There is always someone on hand in the main house if there are any problems. There is the bonus of being able to have your milk and papers delivered to the door (paid separately). Wifi internet is available the main living area and hopefully there will soon be a Vodafone network booster as no mobiles work here. Free sat television. In the playroom is a huge quantity of childrens books, toys and dvds.

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are a young family of 3 children (all under 5). My mother lives in the main house. My Husband Hugo works from home and with the children we are very home based. The garden and local environs provide us with all we need. Pre family I was in the food business and so the kitchen is set out as a professional kitchen with added plastic plates and children bits. Hugo works in property so can always help you find a property in this region should you fall in love with the area as we have.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our house is at the North end of a small village in a picturesque area known as the Bride Valley. The next village contains a pub as with most villages around here. We are in the heart of some of the best food producing areas, with farmers markets every weekend and mid week in local towns. About 10 minutes driving takes you to the beautiful beach at Burton Bradstock which boasts very impressive yellow cliffs and is part of the World Heritage Jurassic Coastline. For the best beach swimming try Eype, just the other side of Bridport. There is the lovely harbour of West Bay and Bridport's bustling Wednesday and Saturday markets all within 8 miles (10 minutes drive). Historic Dorchester (Casterbridge in the Thomas Hardy novels) is 8 miles and 15 minutes drive in the other direction and taking a one hour drive you can reach Bournemouth, Exeter, Taunton and a little further Bath and Bristol. Dorchester has a good train links to London Waterloo. Bournemouth, Exeter, Southhampton and Bristol are the nearest airports, Heathrow is only 1hour 45 away. London is a very easy 3 hour drive. We are also a short drive from Weymouth where part of the 2012 Olympics will be held.
