Our home

Lovely two-storey house, right alongside the River Thames, with views of Tower Bridge. It's a converted 19th century warehouse, very comfortable, cool in the summer and well positioned to explore the whole of London and the surrounding area. We have a car garaged in an adjacent apartment building. The house living room overlooks the river, as does the master bedroom. Both are large and comfortable. The two other bedrooms are compact, but sleep two in each. There are four bathrooms. The house is quiet and very private.

Who we are

  1. We are a family of 4: Ian is a former journalist, currently working in the UK Government (the Foreign Office). Adele runs her own charity. Our two daughters are aged 12 and 13. Our family home is in Wales, but the house in Rotherhithe is used mainly by Ian when he is working in London. Ian is also Professor of Journalism at Cardiff University in Wales. We are planning to take six weeks vacation in the summer of 2010 from mid July to the end of August and would like to find homes for exchange in some or all of Greece, Italy, Germany and France. We are prepared to consider non-simultaneous exchange

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The house is in Rotherhithe Village, which is the place from where the Pilgrim Fathers set sail for America. The captain of their ship, the Mayflower, is buried in the local church - which is 100 metres from the house. Rotherhithe is a quiet neighborhood, one mile from Tower Bridge and well connected to the rest of London via the Jubilee Line on the London Underground (nearest tube station: Bermondsey). There are large local parks and restaurants, but from here you can walk to London Bridge in 20 minutes and to Covent Garden in 30 minutes. Travelling east, you can bike to Greenwich in 30 minutes.
