Our home

Our house is a two storey semi-detached Victorian cottage with a lovely small garden in the heart of De Beauvoir Town. Last year we rebuilt the bathroom and kitchen and added a glazed extension with doors which open out on to a large terrace overlooking the garden.

The kitchen is a pleasure to cook in - and the bathroom a pleasure to wash in. We often entertain in the extension area. We have a large collection of DVD's for the odd idle evening with good viewing and listening facilities generally.

Although there is only one proper bedroom the sitting room and another room on the upper floor have good foldout beds in them so a couple with a child or two could stay.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

De Beauvoir Town was built in the mid-19th century and is a very architecturally homogenous area. There is an article on the area in Wikipedia and numerous references via Google.

The area has recently become very popular and is adjacent to most of fashionable East London: Dalston, Hoxton and Shoreditch. (However, visitors have to take pleasure in gritty urban living as the locals do.) There are plenty of cafes and restaurants of all kinds in the neighbourhood with new ones springing up every day.

It also has excellent transport links. From Dalston Junction it is easy to travel south and west with a good connection to the Victoria Line running through the centre of London. There are also many buses heading in all directions. It is also close to Liverpool St for day trips east to Cambridge etc. and St Pancras/Kings Cross for day trips to Paris!
