Lovely one-bedroom, third-floor flat with sunny, south-facing views over Powis Square - quiet and calm, safe and secure - just 200m (650 feet) from the famous and fascinating Portobello Road in one direction and the glamorous shopping and cafes of Westbourne Grove in another.
The bedroom, with a UK king/Australian Queen bed, has a view to a stunning Tabernacle building (see photo - and which has a great outdoor courtyard in summer).
The living room has a sofa-bed so the apartment sleeps 2 - 3 comfortably and 4 if you're close or for children!
We have
- Free high speed WiFi
- Freeview digital TV
- Nespresso coffee machine
- Dishwasher
- Washing machine
- Hairdryer
The flat is great for children and Powis Square has a basketball ring and playground.
Please note the flat is a third-floor walk-up which, on the plus side, has its health benefits!
I'm an Australian living in London for the past 14 years and loving it - my tummy still does flip flops every time I see St Paul's Cathedral (Sydney Opera House has the same effect).
I work in the creative industries and London was recently described by The New York Times as the design capital of the world. With that, my friends and the fact it's close to Europe - I'm pretty happy.
The combination of travelling for work, plus the fact that my partner lives in the US and my family in Australia, means I'm away a lot and non-simultaneous exchanges are easy.
There are myriad great restaurants, pubs, cafes and bars - from casual and fun to the Michelin starred Ledbury Restaurant. I'll provide a list of the best 'locals' including (perhaps especially) coffee.
Shopping includes lots of great fashion, markets, music and bookshops (the Travel Bookshop from the film 'Notting Hill' is literally down the street). The antique, food and clothes market of Portobello (Fridays and Saturdays) lead you to the cosmopolitan strip along Golborne Road, full of Portuguese and Moroccan food and quirky vintage furniture finds.
The newly re-opened and beautified Kensington Palace and surrounding Kensington Palace Gardens and Hyde Park is just a 20-minute walk. It's one of my favourite places in London.
And I can leave you my fob key to access the City's bicycle hire scheme which is great for getting around the city - for work or to see London's sights. Riding through Hyde Park is wonderful; whatever the weather.
There is a bike docking station almost at the front door.
You can reach Marble Arch, the West End and Oxford St in 10-12 minutes from Notting Hill Gate Underground Station (15 mins walk) and Kings Cross, Euston and the East End is in easy reach from Westbourne Park tube station which is less than a 10 minute walk.
Two different red double decker London bus routes which are just a few minutes away take you directly to Oxford Street.
