Our home

We have a lovely Edwardian house (100 years old) with many original features. It is very light and airy with a beautiful 90ft garden. Recently refurbished with a large open plan kitchen, lounge and dining area; large sliding glass doors lead out to patio areas for relaxation and al fresco dining. To the front of the house there is a snug / cinema room. The lounge TV and cinema are 3D and have surround sound. There is also a downstairs WC and shower room and a utilty room. Upstairs there are three double bedrooms (one ensuite), an office (or 4th bedroom) and a family bathroom. We use our third bedroom as an extra study. It has a sofa which converts into a double futon. The house is situated in a quiet residential street. It is in a leafy suburb, but is just 2 minutes walk from the station where there are frequent trains to central London (Journey time 25 minutes) We have lived here very happily for over 20 years and have great neighbours. If you're interested in a LONG stay of 2-3 MONTHS in LONDON between early DEC 2019 and mid MARCH 2020 and could do NON SIMULTANEOUS please contact us. (our return trip would be between January and March 2021)

Who we are

  1. My husband Paul and I are in our early sixties and took early retirement from our jobs as a language teacher (Val) and in health foods (Paul) a few years ago. We are particularly keen to do some travelling and some writing as well as pursuing various interests including drama, theatre, walking, wine, food.... We have house swapped in New Zealand several times during our winter and love the country. More recently we've visited Australia too and would like to see more of the country. We've had some great house swaps and made lots of new friends. We have a villa with a private pool on the Bodrum peninsula in Turkey(see our website www.gumuslukvilla.net for more details), which is sometimes available for swaps (outside June, July and August). We will of course treat your home with the same care and respect we would wish from others. If you are looking for a LONG STAY of 2-3 months in London between EARLY DECEMBER 2019 and mid MARCH 2020 and could offer non simultaneous please contact us. (We'd be interested in return trip between Jan and March 2021)

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The house is situated in East Barnet, 7 miles north of central London and has excellent access to the city centre. We are two minutes' walk from Oakleigh Park station and within half an hour we are in the city centre. In addition East Barnet village has a variety of shops, pubs, restaurants, a bank, post office etc. It takes us six or seven minutes to walk to the shops. We are also very close to a park with all the usual facilities. Just five minutes away by car is a beautiful country park for longer walks. The M25 is 10 minutes drive from our hous.
