Our home

Newly-renovated 5BR family home located in convenient North London neighbourhood close to Central London. Fireplaces and many period features; large garden, eat-in kitchen/dining-room.

Our home comprises 5 spacious bedrooms (we usually offer only 4 BR for swaps, but would consider offering all 5BR for a swap of 9-10 people if you are offering a similar-sized exchange). Bedrooms include: newly-renovated loft conversion master bedroom with en suite; 3 rooms with king/queen-sized beds, 3 full bath/shower rooms. 90' back garden with patio, barbecue, hammock, lawn, herb and flowerbeds. Facilities include 5 large bedrooms and 3 full bath/shower rooms; eat-in kitchen; living room with flatscreen television, TiVo cable TV box, and XBox Kinect with games and videos; study with iMac computer and high-speed wireless internet (available throughout the house.)

Other amenities include barbecue and outdoor seating area. Bicycles; bicycles and other sports equipment available. Acoustic and electric guitars; electric piano.

Notes: Our house is a midterraced house arranged over 3 floors. Loft conversion with Juliette balcony, veluxes and en suite makes for a stylish master bedroom. Usually home to the 5 members of our family, the house can sleep up to 10. The 3 largest bedrooms each have king (150cm wide) or extra-king (160cm) beds. Guest room has king-sized airbed; child's room with single bed can sleep an extra person on single mattress (or mattress in large front BR could make a triple).

We can consider a car exchange for trips outside of London. (Driving in London is tricky due to speed traps, parking restrictions etc). Public transport is best in Central London, and is very convenient from our home, both into London and to other places in the UK.

Who we are

  1. We are a family of 5. Andy is a therapist and serious amateur painter. Nina works part time in Financial Services in the City of London, and is busy with family life. Children Nik (17), Asya (14) and Sonia (9) enjoy a variety of activities including guitar and drums (Nik); figure-skating (Asya), skating and swimming (Sonia).

We take great care of our home, and would be equally careful with yours. We have enjoyed house swaps before, and love to explore new places.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Crouch End is a desirable North London neighbourhood close to Central London, with village high street, local shopping, dining and entertainment. You can shop for groceries, meat, fish, fruit and veg within 5 mins' walk of our house. Nearby amenities include Park Road swimming pool, Alexandra Palace ice rink, cinema and further shopping and dining in Muswell Hill a short bus ride away.

Central London is easily accessible via local transport: 5 mins' bus ride to Finsbury Park Tube and Overground train (Victoria and Piccadilly lines - 12 mins ride to Central London); 10 mins walk to Hornsey Overground and Crouch Hill rail stations, each with frequent service to Central London and points north.

Like Paris, London is a collection of neighbourhoods, each with their own character and points of interest, all of them well-connected by public transport. Our neighbourhood, Crouch End, is not a suburb; it could be compared to living in the 18th Arr. in Paris. It has its own neighbourhood feel, with cafes, bars, shops and an art cinema, as well as many parks, walking trails, a swimming pool, the Victorian exhibition centre Alexandra Palace up the hill, all within walking distance.

From Crouch End it is easy to travel to central London. For instance, it takes about 25 mins door-to-door by public transport to Oxford Circus – probably a bit quicker than travelling across Paris from Montmartre to Notre Dame. Crouch End is served by many buses; three Overground rail lines within 10 mins’ walk; Finsbury Park Underground, with both Victoria and Piccadilly Lines, is a 6-minute bus ride (bus stops across the street). (Google Maps - 'Get Directions' will show estimated public transport times if you would like to check for yourself.)
