I live in a bright Victorian terrace house which is on three floors. The downstairs open plan area is very light and has wooden floors, with doors which lead onto a south west facing garden. Perfect for cooking meals while chatting to family/friends. The garden is very quiet and a suntrap. Upstairs on the first floor there are 2 bedrooms and the main family bathroom. One bedroom has a good queen sized bed and the other has a Victorian small double (from my childhood bedroom). The bathroom is modern with underfloor heating. On the top floor there is a large double with lots of space and an ensuite with shower.
I am Emily, a lawyer who has been living here in London for around 15 years, I enjoy what London has to offer with its great theatres, art exhibitions, restaurants and shops. I have not done a home exchange before but I am now looking to spend some time in California in Sept/October 2012 as my cousin is getting married near LA. I thought it would be fun to spend some time there getting to know it properly. I would love someone to enjoy London in my absence. I also have a lovely cottage in Dorset which could be used as well, during my trip to California.
I love travelling and seeing new things. I also enjoy the outdoor life, so I can advise on lots of things to do in London and Dorset.
Balham is a fun area, with bars and restaurants and good transport connections to the center of London - both underground and rail links. There is a good comedy show most weekends at the local pub/theatre, while there are several supermarkets and coffee shops. It is easy to get into the center of town taking around 25 minutes to Oxford Circus. The neighbourhood is safe with lots of families as well as young professionals and locals.
Also nearby is a large park area called Wandsworth Common, with running tracks, tennis courts, cafes, a pub and a highly rated restaurant. I enjoy going for a morning run here and picking up a newspaper and a coffee, at the weekends people hang out playing games and having picnics.
