Our home

Modern, spacious and light-filled 6th floor penthouse centrally located to Greenwich and Blackheath. Within easy access to all of London. The apartment comprises of an open-plan living dining room, leading out on to a mid-size private terrace with container garden, gas BBQ and seating/dining area with London views. The accommodation consists of a master bedroom with super kingsize memory foam bed and second room which is permanently used as an office space. The apartment is therefore best suited to accommodate a couple, or two friends or family members traveling together who don't mind sharing a (very very spacious) bed. There is also a main bathroom and an en suite attached to the office space.

The home exchange comes with the condition to take care of our two domestic cats Oscar & Audrey. They are indoor cats and are completely house trained, friendly and make great companions. They are very low maintenance and only really need to be fed twice a day. Cuddles and 'laptime' at your convenience will not go unappreciated.

Amenities in the apartment include: central heating, high-speed WIFI, cable HD TV, dvd player, Ipod dock, CD player, telephone for local calls, desktop computer, printer/scanner, security entry phone, fully equipped kitchen with dishwasher, washer/dryer and outdoor BBQ. The apartment comes with weekly domestic cleaning service, which takes place on Fridays.

The apartment is very secure and located in a managed, gated community. There is a 24 hour concierge service located in the building, along with a pool and gymnasium. There is a lift service to all floors. The complex contains an on-site tapas bar http://www.taperia.co.uk/deptford.html convenience store, supermarket (Tesco) and dry cleaning service via the concierge. Public transport is right on our doorstep, with frequent DLR trains running just by the complex.

  1. We are a professional couple who continue to travel extensively and enjoy new experiences. Patrick is a university lecturer in Linguistics and Fatih is a brand marketing director for a hi-tech company. We also run our own art consulting business www.theartaddition.com . We love London, the ease of which we can travel to any part of the world from here, and have many personal interests which include enjoying good food and wine, the cinema and Arts among many others.

    We've recently joined the home exchange process, but are very accustomed to opening our home to friends, family and house sitters who have taken care of our domestic pets and plants over the years.

The apartment is located in London's historic Greenwich (UNESCO World Heritage site) and is very near to the financial districts of Canary Wharf and the 'City'. The Docklands Light Railway (DLR) overground metro station is adjacent to the complex giving quick access to Central London, West End, Oxford Street and London Bridge. The DLR connects conveniently to mainline services and the London Underground network. Greenwich tourist attractions are just a short stroll away and include: The Greenwich Maritime Museum, Greenwich Royal Park, Royal Naval College and the Greenwich Observatory (see See http://www.rmg.co.uk for details) are all within close proximity. Greenwich has excellent nightlife with cinemas, theatres, a variety of bars, cafes and restaurants to choose from. Exercise enthusiasts will find Blackheath Common and Greenwich Royal Park an ideal location for long runs.

To the west of the complex is urban Deptford - home to one of London's last truly authentic street markets. A melting pot of ethnic communities, Deptford has emerged as one of the up and coming neighbourhood's in the area with a growing artistic community and independent businesses.

The mainline rail station and Docklands Light Railway stops adjacent to the apartment. Journey time to Canary Wharf (Financial District) is just 12 minutes and trains run every 2-3 minutes during the week and every 6-8 minutes on weekends.

Public Transport - Tube / Docklands Light Railway: Deptford Bridge on the Docklands Light Railway (DLR) is the nearest station for public transport and runs just behind the complex. The DLR integrates closely with the 'old' tube network and provides easy access to Canary Wharf (Financial District), Bank (City / St Pauls Cathedral etc). Trains run every 2-3 minutes from 5:30am until 12:30am. The DLR is the dark green line on the Tube map. Journey times - 12 minutes to Canary Wharf (400+ shops / restaurants / bars / financial district) and 25 minutes to Bank.

Greenwich is the nearest train station. Trains run every 20 minutes and take 12 minutes to London Bridge. 15 minutes to Cannon Street. 15 minutes to Charing Cross (for Trafalgar Square).

There are also several bus routes which stop on the main road outside the apartment. The most useful will be the 453 which runs 24/7 from Greenwich to Marylebone and Victoria. Very useful if you are travelling to/from Gatwick Airport via public transport.
