Our home

We have a period house which is comfortable, clean, sunny and spacious. The house has three separate living spaces and it directly overlooks Ruskin Park. The rooms are well equipped and roomy.

The kitchen, dining and utility rooms are open plan and are at the front of the house overlooking Ruskin Park. There is also a large room with sofas at the back of the house which overlooks the leafy back garden - with patio and small lawn.

On the first floor there is a big room at the front of the house where the children play games and watch TV (DVD, sound bar etc). There are three bedrooms on this floor - 1 x spacious double and 2 x spacious singles (one is a high bed).

The master bedroom with double bed is on the second floor in the new loft conversion. It's a large bright room with Juliet balcony offering spectacular views of the London skyline including the London Eye, Big Ben and the Shard. There's a 105 cm high safety barrier across the double doors so you can safely open them.

Who we are

  1. We are a family of five - Beth, Andy and three children - Alfie (13 years) and twins Indigo and Jacob (11 years). Beth works as a BBC Radio Producer in central London and Andy is a Philosophy teacher at a local school. We have done 4 home exchanges with families in France and Croatia over the past 5 years. They all worked out really well and the families we swapped with were happy in our house and with the way we looked after their homes.

We are open to destinations in Europe that are reliably warm and sunny.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We live in a very green, attractive area of London where lots of families choose to live. We are lucky enough to have bus routes, trains and a tube station within a short walk. The busy and hip area of Brixton is a 20 minute walk or short bus ride away. There you can take the tube / underground and be in central London in 10 minutes. And you can be in central London in 8 minutes if you choose the train.

If you want to stay close to the house, there are numerous art galleries and parks in the area along with great restaurants, cinemas and pubs in Brixton, Herne Hill and Dulwich. The oldest private art gallery in the UK is in Dulwich. The famous Brixton 02 Academy still hosts cutting edge bands. There are also several gyms and swimming pools, and the famous 1930s Brockwell Lido in nearby Brockwell Park.

The front of the house directly overlooks Ruskin Park, which has a wonderful paddling pool, playground and tennis courts. And there are three other parks within a 15 minute walk or short bus journey. The local shops are a 5 minute walk away and there are numerous farmers markets at weekends.

The neighborhood is very friendly and there is a good community spirit. We have great neighbors too.
