Our home

We have a lovely, light-filled house to close central London, in a quiet residential street. It is a typical Victorian terrace with wooden floors, ornate fireplaces in the bedrooms and high ceilings. It has a clean, modern feel with plenty of character. There are three double bedrooms, two with king size beds and one with a single bed (we have a double inflatable mattress than can be used also, if needed.) A comfortable sofa-bed in the living room can sleep two additional guests. We have a separate dining room, with a table that can seat up to 8 people. Both the dining room and the eat-in kitchen have double doors leading to our small but private inner-city garden, which has a limestone patio, outdoor dining table and barbecue, as well as a small lawn surrounded by shrubs, flowering climbers and a spectacular English lyme tree.
We live just 10 minutes walk from the nearest tube station which is Canonbury in zone 2. From here you can get to the heart of London, West End and 'the sights' in about 25 minutes. Highbury and Islington tube is about 15 minutes from our house.

Who we are

  1. We are a professional couple with two small boys aged two and four. We have spent some years travelling the world, living and working in Sydney, Amsterdam and Dublin and have spent the last 9 years putting down roots in London. We would like to explore Europe and we want to use home exchanges as a way of continuing to indulge our love of travelling and seeing new places while providing a relaxed, homely experience for our two little boys. We like the idea of introducing other people to our fascinating part of London.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We are in inner city London, situated on the border between the quirky, creative borough of Hackney and the trendy shops and cafes of Islington. Our neighbourhood is incredibly family friendly, with plenty of activities including sailing on the reservoir, climbing and a 54 acre park less than 10 minutes walk away. The atmosphere is diverse with artists and designers living side by side with young families and new migrants. Transport links into central London are excellent; Canonbury and Dalston Junction stations are each about 10 minutes' walk away; Kings Cross station is about 10 minutes away by bus, and the West End can be reached within 25 minutes by overground and tube. Our house is an ideal base for exploring the East End, with its famous markets including Columbia Road flower market and Brick Lane, as well as the nightclubs and bars of Hoxton and Shoreditch - all within 15 minutes journey on the East London line.
