Our home

Our flat is on the second floor of a portered apartment block (a converted polytechnic), with a spacious lobby and internal courtyards. It is light and airy, on two levels, with a skylight in the main space and a small but well equipped kitchen and access to a terrace overlooking the internal courtyard. We have one double and one single bedroom, and a tiny studio that doubles as an occasional guest room. Friendly neighbours and a very helpful building manager on duty during working hours.

Who we are

  1. Alan is British, an architect; Marina is Italian, an anthropologist by trainig currently organising exhibitions and publications for an architectural practice. Our 21year old son and 30year old daughter sometimes travel with us. We like food, the arts, walking and exploring new places. We have lived in different countries and travelled widely and think exchanging homes is a brilliant way to travel. We have enjoyed every one of the several exchanges we have made over the years and look forward to many more...

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The flat is located in the borough of Camden, a short distance from the West End, and is an ideal base for exploring London. It has excellent public transport connections(underground, buses, surface railway) and is a 10 minute ride from St. Pancras International, the Eurostar Terminal. There are all kinds of shops on the high street, several pubs, cafes and restaurants. Hampstead Heath, perhaps the most beautiful of London's parks, is a 15 min walk or short bus ride to the North: it is ideal for walks and picnics, and you can swim at the Lido, or in the ponds on the heath, play tennis or bowls on the public courts, or fly a kite on Parliament Hill. Regents Park is also a short distance away, with public football, cricket and boating facilities, as well as London zoo and the famous Regents Park Open Air Theatre. Camden Market is around the corner, with more pubs, music venues, bars and restaurants. An interesting art gallery has recently been opened by an important international art collector, which has an interesting programme of events. But this is just what is on our doorstep - the rest of London is just a bus/tube ride away.
