Our home

Our home is very comfortable and low maintenance with everything you need to hand. The lounge has the usual TV and stereo system and is spacious at 20'. The country style kitchen is where we and guests seem to end up, even after our meal spending most of our time there. The kitchen has all the facilities you need including integral washing machine and seperate tumble drier and it is a flat level into the garden.
On the first floor is a bathroom with a power shower and there are two bedrooms. The larger has a very comfortable double bed and a study area with a desk, printer and scanner. (You can access the internet from any part of the house as it is Wi-Fi). A new Digitial TV available for either of the first floor bedrooms.
There is a very large top floor loft suite with a super king bed which has two mattresses (each 1 metre wide). Both are high quality - one being a Vi-Spring, soft yet supportive and the other is Marks & Spencer medium tension. This room has it's own bathroom also with power shower. There is a 40" Sony LCD TV and a 'Teasmaid' which can be set to wake you with tea or coffee.
The garden is small so requires no attention but is has a very attractive pond with large Koi carp (a contract maintenance professional looks after them).
We have indicated 'Seniors Only' as Koi in the pond fascinate and attract children which makes it not suitable for little ones.

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are Ray and Maralyn, a professional couple married for 38 years, now both retired and life long non-smokers. Ray is 69 and was a Chartered Accountant. I am 60 and before retiring ran my own Management Training Company with well known clients such as Virgin Atlantic.

We have had a couple of very successful home exchanges. In fact we are still friends with the people on the Northern Beaches from our previous exchanges. We have no pets now, however, we love dogs and birds so would be happy to take on an exchange where they were included.

We have two daughters (one a teacher the other a lawyer) both Australian Citizens living in Freshwater. Therefore we are looking for somewhere in or close to the Northern Beaches. We have privately organised a six week stay at a friends house in Freshwater expected to be from mid August to almost he end of September 2013. In which case a second exchange of 4-6 weeks either side of that stay would be great. So June/July time or October 2013

LONG TERM HOSTING - 6 months + (over and above our home exchange)
If there were a single person or couple who wished to come to London on a long term basis and could offer in return a room or small apartment in Sydney, this would be of great interest to myself. The spacious loft apartment would be made available as would full use of the rest of the house and facilities. Please contact if you would like further information on this.

Your neighbourhood

Not only is our home itself exceptionally secure, but we have the added good fortune to be in a quiet area with wonderful neighbours. There is easy access to a number of key motorways (10 mins away) such as the M25 and the M11. From our area it is easy to access many interesting and historic towns and cities. To give one example, Cambridge the University City with its outstanding architecture is less than an hour away.

We have Chingford main line trains which take you right into the City of London (Liverpool Street) in 25 minutes. From there you are minutes away from the world famous 'Gherkin' and a short bus hop to Borough to see the latest City building 'The Shard'. There is also a superb food market at the Borough which has quality meats, fish, spices and unusual foods from around the world. We are a bus ride to the Victoria line underground 'Walthamstow Central' where the tube takes you to Oxford Street right in the heart of the West End for the most famous shopping strip in the World!

Camden Market has had a make over and is now one of the 'must see' tourist attractions, as is a boat ride from Camden along the Regents Canal to 'Little Venice', where you see a part of London otherwise hidden from view.

One of the highlights of our area is the close proximity(5 mins) of Epping Forest. This beautiful and large ancient wood has fantastic walks, horse and mountain bike riding.

Tottenham Football ground is a few miles away for fans of that game.
