Our home

We live in a 2 double bedroom terraced house in a quiet street in South East London. We have a small, but fully equipped kitchen, and a comfortable living room on the ground floor. The living room has glazed double doors opening out onto the garden, which makes the room nice and light during the day. Our walls are filled with photographs from our travels and pieces of art, and we also love plants!
Upstairs we have 2 double bedrooms: 1 with a double bed, and 1 with a double sofa bed, which we usually use as the sewing/study room! The bathroom is 'sandwiched' between the bedrooms and comprises of a wash basin, WC and bath with shower.
We have a front garden and a back garden, where we spent lots of time growing vegetables! We have some comfortable recliners in the garden, so you can enjoy a nice summers BBQ!

We would love to go to New York for 7-10 days in the autumn 2012.
Also, we are interested in visiting Israel and Italy for a week or so this year. Please get in touch if you are interested in an exchange to London!

Who we are

  1. We are Rich and Anniek and we've been living together in this house for about five years. We are both young professionals working in Central London: Anniek is an Architect and I am an Actuary. We both love to travel, enjoy watching live music and discovering new bands. A home exchange really appeals to us as we like to try to get a genuine feel for a place when we travel and like to do our own thing rather than follow the crowd. We hope that as well as exchanging houses, we could exchange local knowledge - some of the best things about London are well off the beaten track - and I'm sure the same is true about where you live!

We have already done a couple of home exchanges through this websites, which were a great experience.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

New Cross Gate is a very diverse area, with a distinct 'arty' and 'studenty' feel. There are lots of interesting cafe's, pubs and restaurants, which we would highly recommend you exploring to get a feel for the 'real' London. Many of the pubs have live music nights, film nights and generally a great atmosphere. We live only a 5 minute walk from a large supermarket, and there are plenty of local convenience stores around.

The transport links from New Cross Gate Station (less than 5 min walk from the house) are excellent, with frequent direct rail links (and Underground) taking you to London Bridge in 5 mins! There is a train every 5 minutes or so. It is also very well connected with numerous bus routes.
