Our home

Our traditional Edwardian, semi-detached house in North London is a perfect base from which to explore London and the rest of the UK. Last year we put in a new kitchen and remodelled the ground floor, which is now airy and light. The furniture and appliances are of a high quality, you will sleep deeply in our comfortable beds and you will enjoy the small south-facing garden shaded by a vine growing over a trellis. A young person would feel at home in our attic bedroom. We also have well-stocked bookshelves that contain most of the guides you might need. The house is 30 minutes, by foot and Underground train, from the centre of London and 40 minutes by car from Heathrow airport.

Who we are

  1. I am a retired journalist and my wife is a working teacher of English. We have three children, who have all moved out. One son is married and lives in San Francisco, which why we plan to visit California this summer. We would like to have a base within reach of SF so that we can meet up with him and his wife but also from which we can mount expeditions to those fabled places we only read about. We also expect that they might move in with us for a week or two.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Willesden Green in northwest London is a typically busy area. A Japanese sushi restaurant jostles with eating places of a dozen other nationalities. All-night shops and small groceries abound. Many young people live here. But there are also fine, tree-lined streets with large family houses. A large and pleasant park is at the end of our road. Hampstead's villagey streets and corners, and the magnificent Hampstead Heath, the great lung of London, are a ten-minute drive away.
