Our home

Our home is a well-proportioned one-bedroom apartment in north London, refurbished in 2006. We are on the first floor (or 'second floor' to Americans!) of a converted two-storey Victorian terraced house, built in 1900. The accommodation comprises - comfortable living room with a period fireplace - double bedroom - large, well-equipped kitchen-dining room - utility space with washer and dryer - bright, modern bathroom with bespoke mosaic floor and choice of bath and shower - access to a pretty, shared garden, with patio and vegetable beds. We have an inflatable double matress which can be used in the living room.

Who we are

  1. We are a married couple in our late twenties with no children. Cara is an academic and Miles works in the theatre. We did a house swap to Hawaii for our honeymoon and are keen to do more! We don't drive so we need to stay somewhere with good transport. We are currently planning our holidays for 2010. We are thinking about taking trips in March or April and/or sometime in the summer. We are open to suggestions so please get in touch if you are interested in a swap.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We are less than 5 minutes walk from Tottenham Hale tube station which is on the Victoria Line. The connections to central London are excellent - we can be at Oxford Circus in under 30 minutes. We also have an overground train service from the station which connect directly to Stanstead Airport and Liverpool Street station. This train line makes it easy to take day trips to the east coast and to historic towns such as Cambridge and Ely. Our local bus connections are good too. There are a number of food shops in the immediate area, both chain names and independent stores. A well-regarded local fine-dining restaurant, the Lock Dining Bar, is within walking distance from our house. The Stoke Newington area is a short ride away on the bus, where there are many excellent restaurants, drawn from almost every world-cuisine imaginable! Tottenham Hale is the site of a historic crossing over the Lea river and canal, and the tow paths still offer many opportunities for walks.
