“Easy access by public transport to all the sights and attractions. Great, comfortable home to relax after a busy day. Everything was so easy- setting up agreement, communicating arrangements and tourist information. Beautiful building with interior gardens, elevator, secure entry lead to a charming apartment, beautifully furnished, energy efficient, and such convenient living. I would love to go back again.”

Our home
Our flat is on the seventh (top) floor of a mansion block (with lifts), with views of London, including the newly renovated St Pancras Renaissance Hotel. It is very light and airy and well furnished with antiques, with two double bedrooms, a spacious sitting room (with dining table), and a small but well equipped kitchen, big enough to eat in (which we sometimes do). The mansion block is built round a well-maintained internal courtyard and there is a very helpful, onsite, caretaker. It has also been certified as a ‘superhome’ because of its energy conservation measures, and with double glazing throughout is both warm in winter and quiet. As we spend July and August every year in France, our flat would be available for two weeks in either February/March or July/August 2014.

Who we are
-
Simon is a retired energy consultant, who still writes books about energy conservation, and Daphne is a semi-retired freelance journalist, working on environmental and development issues. We have a grown-up son, who lives in Leeds, and thus two grandchildren. We lived in Brussels for 17 years, returning to London three years ago, and love the cultural opportunities that London offers. We also have a home in the south of France.

Where is it?
Your neighbourhood
The flat is located in the London Borough of Camden in Kings Cross/north Bloomsbury, very close the British Library and a short walk to the British Museum, the Regents Canal, a good concert hall and two cinemas. It is a short bus ride to the West End shops and theatres and the City of London, Regent’s Park and Hampstead Heath, and you can walk along the Regents Canal to Camden market. It is two minutes from St Pancras International, the Eurostar terminal and the newly created Kings Cross Piaza. It has excellent public transport connections (bus, underground, overground railway), so there is no need of a car. It is very close to some excellent shops, pubs, restaurants and a very good supermarket.
