Our home

We are a family of five plus a dog and cat living in a beautiful, comfortable and cosy terraced house in a beautiful, leafy street in north London. Our house is very spacious and elegant; it is also warm, light and very sunny. We have a big back garden and a small front garden. There is practically no traffic where we are and it is extremely quiet, despite being within easy reach of all the sights and attractions of Central London. The nearby Piccadilly Underground line offers direct access to the best London has to offer: museums, theatres, historical sites, restaurants, night life, shopping and parks. Covent Garden is only about 21 minutes via tube from local station, which is a short (10 minutes) bus ride away.

We also acquired recently a beautiful 4-acre woodland in South Wales. One can camp there or stay in our (rather delapidated, but with a wood stove) caravan.

Who we are

  1. My husband and I are academics; I am also a non-practising lawyer (interested in international law and human rights). We have a 14-year old son and a 22-year old daughter: both lovely, tidy kids (my daughter does not live with us as she is at university in Israel at the moment). We enjoy a comfortable, well-kept and COSY home, and would be extremely considerate guests.

Your neighbourhood

London is famously described as "a series of villages," and our house is just seven minutes by foot from one of the most vibrant of them all, Muswell Hill ? renowned to 60s rock-and-roll fans as the home of Ray Davies and the Kinks. It features distinctive local shopping, an art-deco cinema, varied restaurants, classic English pubs, and one of the most popular fish-and-chip shops in London. From here you also can catches double-decker bus straight into central London. In spite of its urban bustle and flavour, the Muswell Hill area features lots of wonderful parks, the closest one two minutes away (Alexandra Palace Park). One can cycle from us to another park (ancient, magical Highgate Wood) without going on roads. Also easily accessible by cycle or car is Hampstead Heath, a beautiful, 800-acre swathe of countryside in the city with swimming ponds and pools, capped by Kenwood House, a magnificent ?stately home and art collection (Vermeer, Rembrandt) open to the public. Also very near our house are a wonderful golf club and tennis club; and a gym. This is a great base for people with children, who want to enjoy all the attractions of central London, but also get a sense of the real life of a popular London neighborhood, as well as to play and relax a country-like area.
