Our home

Our house is a 3 story Vicorian house on Brixton Hill in Brixton, London, built in 1885.
Originally a 6 bedroom house we converted 1 bedroom to an en-suite bathroom and are using one as an office.
The house is a Victorian split level house, which means that each room is on its own level, so lots of stairs as there are 7 levels in total.

On the lowest floor is a cellar, on the lower ground floor our large kitchen/dinner where the dining table will easily sit 8 people.
The kitchen opens up to the garden which is approximately 18 meters long, but only 4,5 meters wide.
At the back of the garden is a seating area whit a built in BBQ area.

On the ground floor is a large double living room, where we use the back room as a children's play room.

The first floor contains a bathroom with bath and toilet and a children's bedroom with a cotbed and built in wardrobe. We can easily put a fold away bed in here however.

On the second floor is a master bedroom; a large double bedroom with an ensuite bathroom and walk in wardrobe. The bathroom has a bath, double sink and walk in shower.

The third floor has a shower room and toilet as well as another children's bedroom with a junior bed and built in wardrobe.

The fourth floor contains another large double bedroom with a double sofa bed and built in wardrobes. On the same floor is our our home office with a pretty good view across London; Battersea power station, The London eye, St Paul's Cathedral, The City and Canary warf.

We have wireless high speed internet that reaches everywhere except the very end of the kitchen, but we have digital connection points in each room so the router is easily moved downstairs so it reaches the end of the garden.

Who we are

  1. We are a family of 4. There are Andrew and Sippora who both work full time and two little girls: Nona and Tate who are 5 and 2.
Sippora is originally from Holland and Andrew is a Londoner, born and bred.
We also have a little grey man living with us; his name is Smurf and he is a cat. He mostly lives outside but does come in to demand food on occasion. Allergy sufferers shouldn't notice his presence too much as he doesnt shed hairs, but of course that depends on the severity of an allergy.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Brixton is a vibrant area of London with a very rich history.
Brixton Academy still hosts some of the world's greatest bands and performers.
Brixton Market is a daily market that is a definitely worth a couple of visits, especially the newly opened market arcades that offer some lovely art galleries, organic foodshops, bakeries and restaurants.

At the bottom of Brixton hill is Brixton high street where you will find the tube/metro station that is the start of the Victorian Line.
From Brixton it is 4 stops to London Victoria Station and another 2 stops to Oxford Curcus.

The Street we live in is a very communal street with lovely neighbours and annual street parties.

A short walk away is Brockwell park which is a lovely place to hang out as well; there are some great playgrounds for childres, a swimming pool and gym, a lovely cafe and a large tea room as well as some spectacular views across London.
