Our home

Our flat has has one double bedroom and a study with a single sofa bed. The living room has a large sofa, big dining table, wood burning stove and High Definition TV - so its a great place to curl up and stay in. There is a lot of original artwork on the walls. The kitchen is well equipped for cooks. There is a large back garden to sit out in and a small barbecue for sunny days and a vegetable garden - you can help yourself if anything is in season. It's not luxurious but it is a good flat for couples or for single people who would like to go out and explore London and then come home to somewhere comfortable.

Who we are

  1. We are a couple in our forties. I am a senior lecturer at London University specialising in the study of museums, and my husband is an artist and published writer. We have a cat who is very independent and apart from being fed, doesn't need much attention.
This year we're not very flexible on dates as we have three big family events (a wedding, a 50th wedding anniversary, and an emmigration) and I have to fit into University holiday times but next year we may have more time. We love living in London but would appreciate some quiet holidays in the sun, near the sea (we love swimming). We are also interested in long weekends in European cities.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Dalston is a lively multicultural area that has recently been referred to as the 'most fashionable place in the UK'. Within five minutes walk of our flat there is a great arts cinema, jazz bar, nightclubs, bars, dozens of fantastic Turkish restaurants and grocers shops, an English and Caribean street market and lots of independent arts spaces. Within fifteen minutes walk there is an Olympic size outdoor swimming pool, parks, even more cafes and restaurants, a Farmer's market and the clothes shops in Stoke Newington.

The flat is located on an estate which is located just off a main road and (for London) is fairly quiet.

Dalston is to the North-East of central London. There are good transport links into the centre of London and we are only two or three train stops to Islington, Camden, Hoxton, the Financial Centre ('the City') and the main Liverpool Street Station. We are approximately 3.5 miles from Oxford Street and Soho, 2.5 miles from Tower Bridge, 3 miles from the Olympic site.
Staying here is a great way to find out how London people live and socialise - and to access all the main tourist spots.
