Our home

***We would be open to a home swap during the Olympics if you are planning to attend the events - we are located in the Olympic borrough (Hackney) and are very close. Our house is door to door 25 minutes away to the Olympics site (including walking and waiting times) by a short 5 minute bus ride and 15 minute overland train ride. The train is super convenient and the line (and trains) have been renovated/replaced over the last year and we've used it regularly. It's also a lovely walk to get there from Springfield Park and through the marshes.***

We live in a Victorian house on 3 floors in Stoke Newington, London. We have 2 children - a 6 year old girl and 3 year old boy so have a good selection of toys for young children. We have 3 bedrooms, 2 full bathrooms (1 newly remodelled and 1 ensuite to the master bedroom), as well as a newly rebuilt kitchen and dining room. We have highspeed wireless internet throughout the house. We are 50 steps from the local bakery and shops, and a 3 minute walk from our lovely local park with playground and tennis facilities. The house is a 2 minute walk to the bus stop along the 73 bus route which takes you directly into Central London (center of town - Oxford Circus in about 25-30 minutes).

Who we are

  1. We (Brett-53 and American and Natasha-40 and Swiss) are married with 2 children. We are both architects and teachers. We are a bit limited to travel by school holidays but have a some flexibility. We've not done a home exchange before but have friends who've had great success with this service, so look forward to an exchange in the near future. We would take great care of your home and would expect the same in return.

Your neighbourhood

Stoke Newington is a very family orientated neighborhood in London. It has a park with a fantastic and newly expanded children's playground, outdoor paddling pool, tennis courts, cafe, bird house, deer/chicken/goat enclosures, ponds, etc. The main street has a variety of very good restaurants (Italian, Thai, Southern Indian, Turkish, Japanese) as the neighbourhood is a bit of a food hotspot. Add to that a seemingly endless crop of lovely cafes and tearooms, and you'll see there's no limit of food options. There are several grocers including a large organic one (Whole Foods) as well as an organic Farmer's Market on Saturday Mornings. We are well served with local shops and public transport. We are also 2 streets over from a large and new sports and leisure centre with 3 indoor pools, badminton courts, squash courts, spa, sauna, gym, etc. etc.
