Our home

Our home is in the centre of London, clean, comfortable, with a small garden. It is situated in an urban residential estate, on a quiet street.

It has a large kitchen, well-equipped with all the amenities. Wooden floors. The living room has large sofa and armchair, flat-screen tv, balcony doors into the garden.

The entrance is on the ground floor and then the flat is spread over 2 levels - upstairs is the main bedroom, with double bed, another room with a fold-out double sofabed and bathroom with bath and shower over.

Downstairs is another bedroom (again, here is a sofa transforming into a bed), and bathroom. [Small disclaimer - because of the way the house is arranged, the downstairs bedroom and toilet can get very chilly in the winter and probably not great for spending a lot of time in. In the summer they are perfectly functional!]

The stairs are actually fitted with a stair-lift so if you have some mobility difficulties this could be useful.

Who we are

  1. I am Eugenia, a 25-yr old translator, living together with my mother, Irina, who is a doctor. We like to travel, art/cultural things are our main interest. We have not done a home exchange previously - look forward to trying!

We generally like to holiday when it is warmer.. (We are originally from Siberia, so maybe this is why!)We are VERY interested in travelling to warmer (ideally tropical) climates in the winter (Oct-Mar).

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our flat is situated in a great central location!
2 minutes walk to Marylebone Station, 6 mins to Baker Street (of Sherlock Holmes fame) and 15-20 mins walk to the infamous shopping mecca Oxford Street/Selfridges and all the shops you can imagine. Madame Tussaud's, a popular tourist destination, is also minutes away.

You will also find it very easy to commute to anywhere in the centre or further out. Baker Street to Waterloo by tube/underground takes about 7 mins - then you are right in the heart of London and all its attractions. Bus links to many locations. King's Cross/St Pancras and Paddington are also very close, and buses to other airports such as Luton actually leave from Baker St.

Also within walking distance - Marylebone High Street - a very nice street for boutiques and has great gourmet food shops and restaurants.
Edgware Road - this is London's "Arabic Street," boasting all the shisha cafes and Middle Eastern eateries you could want.
There are of course supermarket shops close by and all around, but for a more typical "bargain" London market you can visit Church Street. This sreet is also home to Alfie's Antique Market.

One of the best things is that our local park is Regent's Park. Hyde Park is also within easy reach. The Regents Canal, one of the best kept secrets in London, is 2 mins from our house - you can take a walk along one of the most pleasant stretches, passing Regents Park, London Zoo, Primrose Hill and reach Camden Lock and Market in about 30/40 mins.
