Our home

We live in a cosy cottage in the High Peak District in Derbyshire and although the road at the front is quite busy at times, our magnificent view at the rear more than compensates for this. The cottage consists of a lounge with a large inglenook fireplace, a dining room with double doors opening onto a small balcony. One large bedroom with a double bed and a smaller bedroom with a 4ft bed, suitable for one adult or two children. The bathroom has a toilet, and bath with a shower over. On the lower ground floor is the kitchen which has recently been refurbished and this leads on to a large patio and garden, with vews of the surrounding countryside and Lantern Pike which is a local beauty spot and the start of many interesting walks. In fact, for the keen walkers, we are only a few miles from the start of the Penine Way and even nearer to the mountain of Kinder Scout.

Property features

Who we are

  1. We are a retired couple who enjoy reading gardening, DIY, walking and golf. Our neighbours on both sides are very friendly and would be a good help in providing any local information and to help with any problems. We have a son and daughter-in-law who live in Sydney and therefore our exchange does not have to be synchronized as we could stay with them if necessary.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our village is situated approx three miles from Glossop where there is good day to day shopping and three miles from Chapel-en-le-frith (The capital of the Peaks). The spa town of Buxton is eight miles away where there are more shops and theatre and we are twenty miles from Manchester airport and the city of Manchester where there are many larger shops, cinemas, theatres, art galleries etc. all served by a good bus and train service. We are conveniently situated for visiting many famous country houses, such as Chatsworth, Hadden Hall, Lyme Hall (famous for the lake scene in the TV production of Pride & Prejudice) and of course, there are many, many beautiful walks right from our doorstep..
