Our home

Our home lies 5 miles from Kirkwall, the island capital. It is a unique property with spectacular views over Scapa Flow to the Scottish mainland.

All the accommodation is on the first floor. The ground floor was the former radar station during the Second World War. This is now our garage and storage area.

Who we are

  1. We are Adrian and Andrea and we are experienced home exchangers having made exchanges throughout Europe and North America over the last 30 years. We enjoy travelling, meeting new people and experiencing lifestyles in other countries.

Adrian is a retired teacher and Andrea is a recently retired childminder. We are looking forward to the possibility of being able to travel a little more often now we are not restricted to school holidays. Normally, only the two of us travel, however, occasionally another couple may join us with the prior approval of our exchange partners.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

The Orkney Islands are a beautiful and fascinating place with a wealth of historical, cultural and natural attractions.

For the outdoor enthusiasts there are walks, tours, cycling and some of the best wild trout fishing in Britain.

Orkney is also noted for its bird life. There are huge colonies of sea birds and moorland species eg hen harriers and red throated divers.

The numerous beaches are beautiful and uncrowded.

Trips to some of the outer islands can be made by frequent ferry services or by plane. The mainland is reached by ferry or direct flights to Aberdeen, Inverness, Glasgow and Edinburgh.
