Our home

Our house is early Victorian, with period features, in a classic London Square, and it has an ultra-modern kitchen. The big garden (with barbecue, croquet, and sitting areas) is open to the public once a year under Britain's famous National Garden Scheme. There are three double bedrooms. The house is full of books and there is a piano. Although we are very near central London the square is very quiet because most of the roads into it are blocked off.

Who we are

  1. We are a retired journalist and a retired journalism academic with three grown-up daughters. When we have time we like to be in the garden, either looking after it, or sitting out, or barbecuing. We also have an allotment about 20 minutes away by car. We enjoy the London theatres, which are close by.
For Summer 2014 we are looking for an exchange in southern Europe where there would be room to bring some of out family.
Non-simultaneous exchanges are possible. We also have to offer a small two bed flat in Collioure, in the south of France, see It is a historic town, where Matisse, Picasso and Derain all came to paint. There are beaches, a tiny port, a castle and dozens of picturesque alleyways. Collioure is the gem of Roussillon. A non-simultaneous exchange involving the Collioure apartment could be made almost any time.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Islington is the former home of Tony Blair, and Upper Street, with its vibrant nightlight and dozens of restaurants, is where Blair and Brown made the famous Deal. Our square is one of the loveliest in Islington, filled with blossom and roses. The square is also great for children to play in, with space for ball games and a playground with swings etc. All our visitors say how brilliant our house is for getting around London. It is about five minutes by taxi from the Eurostar terminal. Transport to all the attractions of central London is very easy: about 20 minutes on a bus or tube to theatreland, and an easy bus ride to the City (St Pauls, Tate Modern etc). Mainline stations to get to places outside london are also nearby.
