Our home

Our home is a typical London Victorian terrace, on a quiet street. It has a double reception room (fireplace, bay window), a fitted kitchen/utility and a downstairs loo, then a bathroom on the landing, then two bedrooms on the first floor and two on the second (one with en-suite shower room). Two of the bedrooms are large doubles (we use one as a study), two are small doubles (we use them as the children's rooms). There is a south facing garden with a patio and sandpit.

Who we are

  1. We are a family with two young children (5 and 2) who are heading for Sydney for 3rd January - 16th June 2010, because one of us will be working at the Royal Prince Alfred Hospital, doing a fellowship as an ENT surgeon. The rest of us will be enjoying the beach! We will not be returning to London until the end of July, as we will be travelling on the way home. We are looking for a place in central Sydney, ideally in or near Balmain, and ideally with at least 3 bedrooms.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Our home is in Holloway, north/west Islington. It is a very cosmopolitan area, with shops and restaurants of all nationalities around us, and lively. It is very easy to get into the centre of London (Zone 2), a 30 mns tube journey to Covent Garden (for example), and a short bus ride to King's Cross St Pancras (from where you can get to Paris in 2.5 hours). There are schools, playgrounds, leisure centres, cinemas, supermarkets etc within a few minutes walk.
