Our home

Tigh Roisin is on our croft on the Isle of Skye and sleeps 4 + 2. Architect designed to our specifications, it achieves the highest standards of comfort and insulation while retaining the vernacular feel of the first croft house our family built over 100 years ago. It is situated in a crofting village and next door is the “Red Skye” restaurant which has excellent reviews on Trip Advisor.

The accommodation upstairs consists of 1 double bedroom with king-size bed and en-suite shower. 2 single bedrooms, each with an extra pullout bed which converts to either king-size double or twin beds. Seperate bathroom with bath, whb, wc and shower. Quality oak furniture throughout.

Downstairs the lounge has a wood-burning stove and wide-screen ‘smart’ TV (iPlayer, VideoOnDemand) and Blueray DVD player, iPod docking The kitchen has fridge, freezer, dishwasher and Microwave There is a shower-room with whb & WC., large porch and utility room with washing machine. Also Wi-Fi internet connection.

Outside is a lawn, picnic table and children's swing. The beach is just 10 minutes walk.

Who we are

  1. We are are an Artist/teacher and Software developer family with 2 girls aged 6 and 12. We are also traditional musicians, so we are knowledgeable about the music scene on Skye! We actually have 2 houses on Skye - a larger one Tigh Eachainn sleeps up to 9. It's on the same croft. As we run these houses as a business we understand the importance of treating other people's property with respect.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Breakish is a great base when on Skye as it places you in reach of many activities. You will be able to use our own personal guide to places and activities off the beaten track which we send to customers. We can also introduce you to walking and climbing guides and outdoor centres who will customise a day’s activities for your group.

Lady Claire MacDonald, the famous TV Chef, has a hotel nearby. There is a kayaking school in Lower Breakish, and lots of pubs with live traditional music.

Apart from these, you might want to visit our favourite picnic spots, including the Coral Beach near Dunvegan or the Fairy Pools near Sligachan. A wet suit is a very useful piece of kit while visiting Skye!

You might want to go out on Calum’s Seal Trips (“free if no seals” ) if not for the amazing scenery and wildlife, then for the amusing running commentary that the captain makes on the trip.

If Castles are your thing then we have them in abundance from the iconic Eilean Donan Castle, famous for its part in the ‘Highlander’ movie, to ruins such as Castle Moil in Kyleakin, once owned by the infamous ‘Saucy Mary’ a Norse Princess who stretched chains across the Kyles and exacted a toll from passing boats.
