Who we are

  1. We are Kev, 63 & Vicky, 48, a married couple with two daughters Ruby, 14 & Violet, 12, that we travel with and 3 grown up children Emily, Sam & Hannah. We are both professionals, Kev is a retired electrical engineer & Vicky is a Human Resources Consultant. Kevin loves birds & is always looking for new ones to tick off his list & I love travelling to new places, so we have always combined the two.

We have had 3 wonderful house exchanges in Melbourne & Sydney in Australia & Bali. We love our home & have taught our daughters to treat it with respect, just as we have taught them to do the same in other peoples'.

We love arts and crafts architecture & furniture & fell in love with our house when we saw it for sale. We feel like we are on the set of a period drama. You will know what I mean if you come - whether it's reading by the fire in the library, sweeping down the staircase for dinner, or drinking a cocktail on the patio...

Your neighbourhood

These days, Margate fizzes with artistic energy. To traditional, holiday-town charms, add a world-class art gallery, the Turner Contemporary. To sandy beaches and sparkling bays, add a cool café culture and tempting retro shops. Margate is in the midst of a cultural renaissance and once again echos with the sounds (and screams) of delight and wonder, as visitors old and young enjoy the Great British seaside amusement park, Dreamland.
Our road has a large park across the road and is a 15 minute walk to a sandy beach. The Isle of Thanet itself is a great place for cliff-top walks, good birding, healthy coastal cycle rides, building sand castles on one of the 15 glorious sandy beaches and bays or for simply sitting in one of the numerous seafront restaurants and bars, by Margate, Ramsgate or Broadstairs harbours or venture to a country inn.
There are grocery shops, cafes, restaurants, pubs all within 10 minutes walk and we are 5 minutes drive to the North Foreland golf course.
We are also ideally located as a touring base as we are just a short (1hr 30mins) drive or direct train ride into London; 30 minutes to the medieval towns of Canterbury, Sandwich & fishing town of Whitstable. We are closer to France than our county town of Maidstone! You can go to France by ferry or through the channel tunnel.
