Our home

Our new home was completed (self- built) two years ago. It is spacious with an open plan design on the ground floor having a large dining/kitchen and attached laundry/utility flowing through to a spacious living room which has a wood burning stove and French doors leading onto a covered patio and secluded garden backing onto open farmland.
In addition, there is a ground floor WC; a family 'snug' and attached garage. The ground floor is tiled and oak boarded. On the first floor there is a spacious master bedroom with a super king bed and a full bathroom with walk in shower and separate bath. Two further spacious double bedrooms, both with en suites and walk in showers. Finally, there is a craft cum office room.

Who we are

  1. Mike and Carole are now retired and have two sons. Dan now lives in Victoria and Matthew lives local to us. He and his partner will be accompanying us to Victoria to celebrate Dan and Ravina's wedding. We visited D&R this past October which was our second visit and we now have a good 'feel' for Victoria and its surrounds and look forward to returning.
We have done one house exchange some time ago in the UK. We have travelled extensively over the years - all of Europe; western Asia Minor; Scandinavia, North and South Africa, USA and Canada.
With regard to our planned period in Victoria, you are very welcome to be our house guest both before or after our planned dates if you have a longer exchange period in mind with exclusive use of our vehicle throughout by arrangement.
We are also open to non simultaneous exchanges as we regularly go on extended tours with our camper outfit.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Ideally located as a touring base, our village boasts a good general purpose store, two pub/restaurants, fish and chip shop. A market town - 6Km with shops, theatre, health club, golf course and restaurants.
The historic city of York is 16Kms and a regular bus service away. The County of North Yorkshire has an abundance of places to visit. The Moors National Park is thirty minutes away. The North Sea coast is close by with the fishing port of Whitby - the birthplace of Capt.James Cook RN. By contrast, head for The Dales National Park with its patchwork of dry stone walls crisscrossing rolling hills; this is sheep country with picturesque villages and market towns along the way. All of the above have served as locations for TV drama series eg All Creatures Great and Small; Heartbeat; Brideshead Revisited. The quiet country roads afford relaxing sightseeing and the landscape is perfect walking country.
Please refer to the two web sites for comprehensive info.
NB.Airtransat has daily flights between Vancouver and Manchester with a direct rail link to York.
