Our home

Our home was built in 2014/2015. It is warm and cosy and comfortable with central heating, triple glazing and underfloor heating. It has rural views all around the property. On the ground floor there are two bedrooms with king size beds, both ensuite. There is also a kitchen/dining room, open plan lounge and separate sun room. There is a main bathroom and utility room with a toilet off it. There are four bedrooms upstairs and a bathroom, in addition to an open lounge where kids can play or watch dvds. The house is on the edge of our farm and there's a river running around the farm. The garden is just grass as we have yet to finish our outside work. There are lots of footballs and a set of goals. There's a double garage too and bikes. There are many board games.

We also have a holiday home (https://www.homeforexchange.com/listing/united-kingdom/leggs-stunning-shamrock-cottage) but it's only available outside of the busy season (not available Christmas / Easter / July / August / Halloween) as it's rented out during these times.

We have our summer 2018 holidays arranged (not an exchange). Our home could be available for a non-simultaneous exchange but we are tied to school holidays for our breaks. We would consider an exchange at Halloween 2018, possibly New Year 2018/2019 or Summer 2019.

Property features

Who we are

  1. My name is Anita and my husband is Dave and we have 4 sons (4, 9, 10 and 12). Anita is a photographer/tutor/farmer/mother etc and Dave is a fisheries consultant.

We are originally from Northern Ireland but spent almost a year backpacking through South east Asia, Australia, New Zealand, Fiji and Canada. We spent 3.5 years living in Windsor, Ontario, Canada where our first son was born, and 7.5 years on the South Island of New Zealand (Dunedin, Christchurch, Timaru) where our other 3 boys were born. We moved back to Northern Ireland in 2014 and live beside our farm in Fermanagh where we look after cattle and sheep with Anita's brother Alexander.

We love to travel and miss the places we have lived! Travelling with all of us is expensive now, so we are looking forward to having some great holidays in some great places and meeting some great people! We love the beach, water activities, swimming, walking, bicycling, board games, and seeing new places.

With the children we are restricted to dates when they are off school. We could travel around Halloween (end Oct), maybe over Christmas, for 10 days to 2 weeks within July or August. Our holiday home Shamrock Cottage is available all of the year except Easter, July and August (peak period for our rental) and at other times subject to guest bookings. We are open to weekends or weeks.

Ideally if we were to exchange cars then we would need at least a 6 seater vehicle. Ours is a Vauxhall Zafira 7 seater, but an old version and is small so no room for luggage with 7 people!

We are going to holiday in Northern Ireland this year (2019). We are tied to school holidays for our breaks. We would also consider an exchange at Halloween or Summer 2020.

We would be very respectful of someone's home, just as we are of our own and our holiday home.

Your neighbourhood

Our house is less than 2 miles from the local village of Brookeborough when you can easily pick up basic supplies and there's a food takeaway too. The biggest town in our County of Fermanagh is Enniskillen which is 12 miles away. Enniskillen would have lots of great restaurants to visit and there's plenty of historical interest including Enniskillen castle, Monea Castle, Tully Castle.
There are many local walks in the area and three outstanding National Trust properties.
