“We had a very comfortable stay in Hereford. Close to the local town which had some lovely cafes and restaurants which we enjoyed. As well as lots of beautiful rural walking options nearby. Their house was very big with lots of space for us and our children with a lovely family sized kitchen. We enjoyed the wood fire in the evenings as well as Netflix! Thanks again xxx for sharing their home with us and making us feel so welcome.”

Our home
We live in a large, traditional English home that was built 175 years ago. It’s the ideal place to relax and enjoy the rural surroundings. There are fantastic views of the local countryside from the large garden and there is plenty of outside seating as well as a hammock and BBQ. The house is secluded, with a church on one side. At the front of the house is a large parking area (enough for six cars!) Downstairs, you will find traditional stone floors - the stone is from local Welsh quarries. There is a large, modern kitchen with breakfast bar, traditional larder, and dining area - a great area for socialising. In the living room is a tv and X-box and there are French doors that lead into the garden. There's also a log burner for chilly evenings in the living room. There's a computer room with a brand new PC. We also have a bar with sofas, dartboard, WC and optics so you have your own English pub! (There is also an actual pub two minutes walk away!)
Upstairs there are three large bedrooms plus a good size spare bedroom. The bathroom has recently been remodelled and has a bath and power shower.
Outside, there is a utility room where the washer and dryer are situated. There is a very large garden with a gazebo, fire pit and hammock, as well as outdoor seating. We love our home and I’m sure you would too...

“ A great experience. Hereford is a nice city, with nice shops and cafes surrounded with a lot of nature of the Wye valley. Very authentic and low tourism. It\'s an amazing hiking area, with Wales nearby, the Black Mountains, offa dyke and pitoresk villages. Especially we loved Hay-on-Wye, with all the book en artshops. We went to Stratford upon Avon, Shakespeare\'s city and saw Julias Caesar from the RSC. The house is very comfortable and cosy. A lovely garden and a wonderful view. You immediately feel at home. Sarah gave us plenty information and tips and a warm welcome. We highly recommend an exchange with her. Thanks Sarah for your hospitality and your confidence.”
“We had a very nice time in Hereford - it\'s a good base for seeing a lovely part of the UK. We ran or walked most days - sometimes from the house and sometimes a drive away: Symonds Yat was a highlight and all the family enjoyed a lovely walk and then a pub lunch. There are also a lot of National Trust properties in the area. Sarah and her family left out some local produce for us to enjoy and were keen to make us feel as welcome as possible. She wrote long messages with lots of tips of places to go and see - so many we only managed a fraction. We asked if we could invite a friend and her (well behaved) dogs and they were fine with that too... and it\'s a good area for dog walking! Our house was left tidy and clean with the beds all stripped. We managed to leave teddy behind when we left - whoops - but Sarah kindly send him back as soon as she found him. Thankyou!”
“We recommend a house exchange in Hereford, with Sarah and Robert.Their very large house is nicely situated in the Cathedral City of Hereford,so it is close to all the historical treasures of the city and yet also in the heart of the beautiful West Countryside with views of scenic hills and colourful wheat fields. The house offers lots of space, and has been lovingly restored to modern standards...with a spacious kitchen. There is a large garden with lots of room for the children to play. There is Internet and tv and a big front parking area for cars. The location provides great access to Herefordshire, The Borders and Wales. Hereford City is minutes away and there is an excellent pub within walking distance serving great food. The hosts were very helpful with advice and suggestions for local trips, making sure that the exchange was successful.”
Who we are
-
I am Head of School at a primary school and my husband is a financial advisor. We have been together for over 20 years. We are both non-smokers. We don't have any pets. Our boys, Ethan and Theo, are 17 and 13. We really enjoy doing house exchanges and it seems a wonderful way to travel. We have a relaxed attitude but are extremely conscientious about looking after other people's homes.

We live in Hereford, voted by one of our national newspapers as 'the finest county in England - Where else can you find the prettiest villages in the UK, stunning countryside, amazing pubs, historic churches, ancient woodlands, great walks, a world-class cathedral, fascinating market towns and some of the friendliest people in the world?' http://www.mirror.co.uk/lifestyle/travel/british-breaks/herefordshire-englands-finest-county-everything-8514795 We love the area - its beautiful countryside awards great quality of life. Our house looks onto beautiful rural views and our street is a sought after area of the city - it's a quiet area but everyone is very helpful. If you walk five minutes up the road you are in a wooded area and you can follow footpaths for miles through the countryside. There is a pub two minutes walk away and a shop fifteen minutes walk away. Herefordshire is in the beautiful Wye Valley, a rural area with plenty to do, including swimming, kayaking, cycling and mountain climbing. It is also known for its fantastic produce and you can happily spend your days going from one farm shop/ deli to another tasting the wonderful cheese, meat, cider and beer on offer. We are famous for our Hereford beef. The city of Hereford is charming, a lovely place to wander about. There are lovely old streets to explore but also a shopping centre with six screen cinema. There is a good range of restaurants ranging from the usual chains like Pizza Hut to award winning independent eateries set up by local people. There are also fine dining restaurants including a Michelin starred restaurant. You'll also love our festivals which range from the world famous Hay Literature festival to Newent onion festival!
If you travel out of Hereford, you can either visit the stunning Brecon Beacons, Black Mountains and Wales (we are right on the border). or you can visit cities like Bristol and Birmingham. There are also lots of local castles to visit. Our cathedral contains the Mappa Mundi, one of the oldest maps in the world.
