Our home

Our house was built in the 1880's from local stone and lies at the end of a very quiet street just two minutes away from the town centre, and with amazing views across the valley. We have two sitting rooms on different floors, both with TV, plus two bedrooms; the double bedroom is tucked away in the attic and has an en-suite bathroom, while the small single bedroom on the middle floor would suit a single adult or child. For extra visitors there's a huge sofa-bed in the ground floor sitting room which sleeps at least 2 people(!)and adjoins a shower room/toilet. This sitting room incorporates a dining area. On a sunny evening we like to eat upstairs at the window, or outside on the patio. I should mention here that the house is laid out over 3 floors plus a cellar, so includes a number of stairs; it's not really suitable for small children or people with mobility difficulties. Other things you might not like about our house; the kitchen is rather small and we don't have a dishwasher:-(

Who we are

  1. Alan & I are quite laid-back characters, both aged 57. I'm an educational psychologist and he's an operations manager for an international paint company . We have 2 affectionate cats to feed. We enjoy quiet holidays which don't need a car. We love mountains, countryside, quiet medieval towns, and places with character but not much traffic, but we certainly would not rule out short breaks in European cities or the UK. We are vegetarians, so when abroad self-catering suits us best. We're not in search of "night life", because we love to read. My 19 year old son might accompany us if he fancies it, and if he was very good we might let him bring a well-behaved friend.
