Our home

My detached house is located on the outer reaches of the beautiful Medieval City of York. There is a frequent (12 minute) bus service into the City centre, approximately 10 minutes walk from the house. Good shopping for essentials is also 10 to 15 minutes walk.

There are 4 bedrooms, 2 doubles, 1 twin, and 1 single, there is also a folding single bed for occasional use in a bedroom cupboard. A bathroom with bath and separate shower cubicle, there is another toilet downstairs. The kitchen is large with everything needed for living, a lounge, a dining room and a utility room with washing machine. The house is cleaned weekly, usually on Thursday, she has her own key.

York is within 2 1/2 hours of both London and Edinburgh on the fast east coast main line rail service, and York itself is one of the oldest cities in Britain with evidence of both Roman and its Viking past. Christianity came to Britain with the Roman Emperor Constantine. The Cathedral, York Minster, is one of the largest and beautiful Gothic cathedrals in Europe. The Eye of York landmark tower is where the "Massacre of the Jews" occurred in the 12th century and is open to visitors.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Haxby, is a very well served suburb of York, approximately 4 miles from the City centre. It has three public houses two of which serve food as well as alcohol, an award winning fish and shop shop, two pizza take-aways, a Chinese and an Indian take-away, plus four cafes. Grocery shopping is good with two supermarkets.

Further afield are the North Yorkshire Moors and The Yorkshire Dales, both about an hour's drive. From York there are frequent buses, and trains, to the coast at Scarborough, Bridlington and Whitby, and in the other direction to Leeds, Harrogate Knaresborough etc.
