Our home

Pistyll-y-Garth is a two-bed semi-detached cottage sitting up a steep hill and with panoramic views of the beautiful Ceiriog valley. The small entrance hall leads into the dining room and kitchen, which is compact and well designed with double electric oven and griddle. The sitting room is heated by gas fire in addition to gas central heating and feels cosy. The conservatory leads off it and has comfy seating for four and warms up with the slightest bit of sunshine. Upstairs there's a double bed in one room and a large single in the other, a bathroom with shower over the tub. There's also a downstairs washroom. There is a terraced garden with steps leading up to a little wood and a small lawn with love-seat and washing line. In front of the house, leading our of the conservatory, is a paved area with garden table and chairs and a little pond.

Who we are

  1. I am a retired teacher and divide my life between Jimena, a village I have been connected with for many years, and North Wales, where I have a sweet house on a hill, also available for exchanges. I'd like to spend some time exploring Devon in the summer, with a view to moving nearer to my daughter. I've always found Jimena to be an interesting and very friendly place to be, and enjoy the various local musical and cultural activities as well as the wonderful scenery.

Your neighbourhood

The Ceiriog Valley is renowned for its peace and unspoiled beauty, and combines the wildness of nature with accessibility to good road, rail and shopping services. The house lies on the road between Glyn Ceiriog, where there is a useful all-hours shop, and Llangollen, which can provide all one's basic needs. The road is not for the faint-hearted! It's very steep, but well worth the adventure. The pretty village of Llanarmon DC, with its two good hotels and restaurants, lies about 5 miles further up the valley. There are endless places to explore in this beautiful area, by car, on foot, horseback or mountain bike. It's also a good place simply to rest and enjoy the peace.
