Our home

Our home was originally a stables/coachhouse for a large nearby house. It was converted to a gardeners cottage in 1940`s and is set in extensive private grounds amongst the friut trees of what was the the main house`s orchard. We have lived here for 18 years, and have considerably extended the original accomodation, as our family has grown. 2 years ago I completed the building of a double storey extension,(located to the right hand end of the older part of the house in the pictures)in the downstairs of this is our main bedroom with ensuite bathroom and upstairs a large, light dining/kitchen area. We love spending time in this room with it`s numerous roof windows and open aspects to the front gardens and beyond. To the front of the main/older part of the house is another extension, this is a bedroom the distinctive feature in here being a high mezzanine bed/sleeping platform, great fun for older children and teenagers .Downstairs in the main house there`s a reception/hallway, leading off this is shower room/W.C., the main sitting room has large comfy leather sofa`s, and leading off the sitting room is a study/bedroom with a very comfy double sofabed. Upstairs there`s a large bedroom with a large single bed plus daybed. There are 2 small boxrooms also upstairs. The house offers very flexible accomodation, with enough distinct areas for everyone to be to together or do their own thing.Outside there`s a covered table tennis deck, large trampoline, and hammock area among fruit trees.

Who we are

  1. We are Tim and Lucy, we have 2 children of 12 and 14.I am a Cabinet Maker and have my own business, whilst Lucy works in local government management. As our exchange would need to be in the scottish school summer holidays we would like to sort it as early as is practical. Ideally our holiday destination would be at (or at least close by)some water(sea/river/lake/pool). Otherwise we are flexible about everything pretty much!!

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Situated in a suburban area of N.W. Glasgow, our house is great base for both exploring all that the city of Glasgow has to offer (museums, shops, restaurants, nightlife), plus going west out of the city loch lomond can be easily reached in 20 mins and beyond the western Highlands. 45 mins north and one is in the beautiful Trossachs and Loch Lomond National Park with numerous hillwalking, fishing and watersports. There are excellent public transport links nearby, we`re a 3 minute walk from a railway station from where trains take 15 mins to the city centre. Edinburgh can then be reached in under an hour, making day trips to the capital very easy. Glasgow airport is about 15 minutes drive. There is an excellent modern public gym/sports centre 2 mins walk away. Within 10 mins walk (2 mins drive)there`s a large retail park and supermarket. Overall our home is ideally located for access to both city and countryside. The 3 countryside photos on the thumbnails show a view from the summit of Ben Lui(1 hour away),our favourite beach on Loch Lomond(25 mins) and the old paddle steamer on Loch Katrine(45 mins).
