Our home

Lovely, bright and colorful family home situated close to Glasgow in the suburb of Kelvindale.

We recently extended our home and the focus of the downstairs floor is now the large kitchen dining area which has a double range cooker, large table which easily seats eight people, breakfast bar and French doors onto a raised wooden deck that overlooks the extensive garden.

On this floor there is also a cosy lounge with sofas, flat screen TV and wood burning stove. One of the bedrooms is downstairs with a single bed that easily converts to a double. This bedroom also has a flat screen TV. A toilet and utility room complete the lower floor.

Upstairs there are four further bedrooms. The largest bedroom has a king sized bed and flat screen Smart TV with access to the Internet via the Wifi. The other three are singles, one has a loft bed and one has a single bed that can easily pull out to a convert to a double. There is a family bathroom and a separate shower room with power shower.

There are gardens to the side, front and rear with a 12ft trampoline to keep children (or adults) amused. In the summer you can dine on the raised deck area which is accessed from the dining kitchen.

There is wifi throughout the house with high speed broadband. We also have satellite TV, a Sony PS3 console and Nintendo Wii.

We have a large seven seater SUV which we would be happy to lend to anyone staying. If you are a smaller family, we also have a smaller car that could be used.

Who we are

  1. My husband and I have lived in Glasgow all our lives and we couldn't imagine living anywhere else. I used to be a lawyer but I now spend my time looking after our four children aged 12, 10, 8 and 4 and our dog, Meg. My husband is an accountant and commutes to England weekly for his work. We like to travel and want to give our kids as many life experiences as we can.

Your neighbourhood

Our house is situated just fifteen minutes drive from Glasgow airport, in the popular West End. Our neighbourhood is quiet, safe and friendly with kids playing in the streets. Glasgow University, the Botanic Gardens and Kelvingrove Art Galleries are all within walking distance or a short bike ride along the river Kelvin through the leafy parks. The transport museum on the banks of the River Clyde is only five minutes further. Byres Road is a ten minute walk and has lots of bars, restaurants and lovely individual shops.

Glasgow City center has some of the best shopping in Europe and you can access it by train, bus, underground or car in about ten minutes. We also have several theaters and music venues hosting touring London shows and international acts. The train station is a five minute walk from the house.

Getting out into the country is easy and if you like to be active, there are lots of cycle tracks nearby including the Forth and Clyde canal which can take you all the way to Edinburgh. We also have swimming pools and two tennis clubs nearby.

If you fancy travelling further afield, Loch Lomond is a half hour drive and you can get to Edinburgh by train or car in under an hour. If golf is your thing, Scotland is the best place to come and St Andrews is just an hour and a half drive away, easily done in a day trip. A three hour drive will get you to the heart of the Scottish Highlands and the Speyside Whisky Distilleries or in the opposite direction you can visit the west coast and the islands of Skye, Islay and Jura.

Cheap flights to London and Europe are available from Glasgow Airport - the flight to London is just over an hour and Ireland is even less. France and Spain can be reached in around two hours.
