Our home

Second floor flat/apartment (up four flights of stairs, plus few steps at front). It is from Victorian era (so no lift). The apartment is in well maintained block with secure entry. 2 large public rooms; 3 double bedrooms; 2 bathrooms (both with bath and separate shower); dining kitchen which has small laundry room. WiFi is installed and available for guests' use.

Close to Byres Road which is centre of Glasgow's West End. The West End contains Art Galleries and pleasant parks. Entrance gate to Botanic Gardens is only few yards from my apartment.

Short journey by Subway/Metro (from Hillhead station in Byres Road- about three quarters of a mile away)to city centre. There you will find usual large stores and Italian fashion quarter. Theatres, concert halls, Gallery of Modern Art, cinemas also in city. You can also get number 6 bus from Great Western Road stop - about half a mile away.

It is 50 minutes in the train from Glasgow to Edinburgh. Because of of Edinburgh's anti-car policy, it is more sensible to get to Edinburgh by train and use public transport there.

Who we are

  1. Retired attorney - worked as in-house counsel with British Broadcasting Corporation - also have been part time legal academic at Glasgow and Strathclyde Universities - both of which are close to apartment. Now in mid 60s, retired and wish to see foreign places at leisure rather than usual sightseeing rush on brief holiday. Interested in places which have reasonable weather in months October to March.

Most years, I want to be away from Scotland for a substantial part of the period October to March. At the moment, I am particularly interested in the Loire Valley in France. I already have exchanges in America in March/April and May
I have a second home, so non-simultaneous exchanges are possible. Normally I spend the summer months in the UK - but that can be in my second house, leaving the Glasgow apartment free for exchangers.

  2. Since retiring I have been studying early modern history

  3. Interested in playing golf; visiting museums; classical concerts; theatre; seeing places of general interest in area I am visiting
