Our home

AT PRESENT OUR HOUSE IS UNDERGOING A HUGE RENOVATION PROJECT. WHEN COMPLETE WE WILL HAVE AN OPEN PLAN KITCHEN / DINING / lLIVING SPACE WHICH WILL OPEN ON TO THE COURTYARD AND REAR GARDEN.. WE HOPE THIS WILL ADD TO OUR LOVLEY GEORGIAN PROPERTY MAKING IT A SPECIAL PLACE TO STAY IN THE HEART OF YORK. WORK WILL FINISH DECEMBER 2015.

We offer a large and lovely three storey Georgian end of terrace house with ample space to accommodate large families and parties of friends travelling. We love to spend time in the garden, playing a game of football or dining with friends in the south facing courtyard. Even though we are very close to the city it can feel like you're in the country with only a short walk from the rear of the house to Fulford Ings leading to the river Ouse.
There are three double bedrooms, plus a very large master bedroom and a small double / office spread over two floors. There are three bathrooms including an en suit and two separate toilets. On the ground floor there is a comfortable sitting room to the front of the house with a wood burning stove. A playroom at the rear with plenty to occupy the children this is connected by double doors and leads to a courtyard & garden via the French doors. There's a well equipped kitchen and a dining room seating 8/10, wood floors throughout the ground floor and utility / boot room with washing machine to rear of the house. Fast internet access, tv and DVD player, plus Netflix. It's a very child friendly home with lots of toys and an extra large trampoline . There is off street parking for 6 cars and garage with bikes - York is a cycle friendly city.
It certainly has a country feel with the addition of three pet hens laying daily and you can enjoy fresh eggs for breakfast most days!

Who we are

  1. We are a family of four with two small children, Scarlett 11 and Gabriel 8. Phil and I have been married for 17 years and within that time we've travelled extensively for leisure and with work, living in London and New York. We lead busy working lives, I run a vintage furniture business and Phil is a manager in a consultancy firm. We love food and travel and feel the two go hand in hand. We like to take an extended holiday during the school summer break and we love the idea of seeing another country as a resident. We have only done one home exchange before but are keen to try more.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

We live in a lovely area called Fulford famous for the beginning of the battle of Hastings 1066. The area has a nice local community, a few traditional pubs and shops and is served with local buses to the city centre only 2.5km / 10 minute ride away. The area is east of the river Ouse which runs behind the village. From the house you can take a lovely walk along the river leading to the historical centre of York which has a wealth of history, attractions, restaurants and shops within the old city walls.
The Yorkshire dales and the Yorkshire moors are both places of outstanding beauty and great for walkers, Dalby forest for cycling and if you want a thrill for all the family, Lightwater Valley are all on our doorstep and can be reached within 45 minutes. There are numerous traditional English seaside towns along the east coast accessible by train or car within 45 minutes and many many historical houses and gardens to visit in the area.
