Our home

Our beautiful Edwardian house is only a short walk (500 mtrs) from the sea.
The house has a large farmhouse type kitchen, a dining-room, 2 further reception rooms and a very large conservatory. There are 4 bedrooms and 2 bathrooms, of which one is en-suite. The larger one has both a bath and a separate power shower. All modern conveniences have been fitted into this elegant 100-year-old house.
The garden is fully enclosed, both front and rear, and has lawns, flower-borders and mature trees. There is parking space for 3 cars.
A well-equipped beach hut is available for use just down the road.

Who we are

  1. We are John and Margaret, a married couple, both now retired. Margaret was a college lecturer and I, John, was a project engineer & manager. We are well travelled. Margaret is Swedish by birth but has lived for 40 years in England and various other countries. We would dearly love to obtain somewhere to stay in Sweden for 3 – 6 months ideally but shorter exchanges are of course equally desirable.
We have a grown-up son who lives in Cambridge (he speaks some Swedish and is a good contact to have on hand).

We would love somewhere for a week – 10days over Christmas this year, 2006.

Your neighbourhood

Frinton-on-Sea was established by the Victorians and is a clean, quiet seaside town noted for its very long, fine sandy beaches The climate is very mild, even in autumn and winter.
The town’s shopping centre (5 min’s walk) has a full range of shops and restaurants.
Other local facilities include a tennis & squash club, a fine golf links club, a bowl’s club and a cricket club, all of which welcome visitors.

There is a regular train service to London (1 hour) and local bus services to neighbouring towns. The railway station is 5 mins walk from our house. There are many old towns and picturesque villages (with dozens of old English pubs) within a 40-min-drive, including Colchester (Britain’s oldest recorded town), Ipswich, and Dedham (vale) – made famous by the artist John Constable. The city of Cambridge is 1 1/2 hour by car along excellent motorways.
