Our home

18thCentury stone 'tower' house, Grade 2 listed, (sleeps 6+1) and detached cottage (2+3). Set in pretty gardens with far reaching rural views but just 1.5 miles from the M20 to Dover & London. Recently refurbished to a high standard with light elegant rooms. Weekly cleaner and gardener.
The main house comprises of 3 double bedrooms upstairs - 2 with Double beds (one with en suite wc/washbasin and other with washbasin) and 1 twin-bedded room and a bathroom with bath & seperate shower. Downstairs has a Lounge with window seats, cream sofas and inglenook fireplace (logs available), Dining Hall (table for 6-12+) with baby grand piano and French doors to garden. TV Snug in the cellar with 40" screen, DVDs, games and leather reclining sofas. Farmhouse style kitchen with French range, American fridge/freezer and table seating 4-6. Also has a small laundry room and wc/shower room off the kitchen.
Large garden with tree house, slide & swing. South facing terrace with table, umbrella and benches/chairs for 10 plus BBQ.
The Cottage has a large lounge with TV, sofas and additional beds for 2, open plan kitchen/diner with French doors & steps down to private south-facing patio. Stairs lead to landing with single bed, double bedroom and small bathroom (please note the stairs in the cottage are fairly steep - therefore not suitable for under 5's,the very elderly or infirm).
NB: This is not always available - but this has not affected any of our exchanges so far - usually 3-5 per year.
Parking front & rear of property. Car swap would be available - Mercedes E class estate - or can rent at Airports/locally.

  1. Michael & I (Vanessa) are in our 50's and enjoy travelling with our family or good friends. We are looking for either a property in a sunny location with a pool or direct access to a beach(4-8travellers or a city break with friends (2-4 travellers). We are non smokers and have one happy cat (who will require feeding daily although can arrange extra help should you wish to be away at any time).

Interesting property surrounded by open fields and lovely country views but within easy access of the M20(1.5 miles)to London(65 miles), Channel Tunnel (.5 mile)for daytrip or visit to France!!, Historic Canterbury (17 miles), the seaside (3 miles)and several towns of interest. Nearest town Hythe & 24hr supermarket 1.5 miles. Also many sights to see (castles, historic houses & gardens, zoos, steam railways, country villages and the museums and theatres of London).
Heathrow Airport 1.5-2hrs & Gatwick Airport 1-1.5hr.
There is an hourly bus service from 7am - 11pm to Canterbury or Folkestone; which passes the house and will stop, if hailed, at the bottom of the drive! Convenient for teenagers who want a little independence.
Can considered non-simultaneous exchanges for 1-2 weeks.
