Our home

An unusual village property that is as welcoming as its name. The Welcome Stranger is a charming and spacious semi-detached period cottage with 4/5 bedrooms, believed to date from 1823, originally a chapel and later part of a village pub from which the property gets its name. Currently with Broadwood grand piano in the large living-room. The cottage backs onto and has far-reaching views over farmland, and is within walking distance of Bedgebury Forest, with Bewl Water nearby. Directly across the street is the Cricket Club and beautiful playing field. Trains to London (Charing Cross, Waterloo East, Cannon Street) from Wadhurst take just over an hour. Regular bus service from Flimwell to Tunbridge Wells and Hawkhurst etc.

Who we are

  1. We are a family with father and mother married for 25 years, now in mid-40's, and four children (7, 13, 16, 18) plus a grown-up son (21) studying in London. We are hoping to start work in Sydney later this year (as an Artistic Director) and are looking for a long-term swap within commutable distance of the Harbour Bridge.
