Our home

Our home is warm and friendly with a nice view of a communal "green" from the spacious living room and of the mature garden through the kitchen window. It has everything you need for a comfortable stay with a well equipped kitchen and eating area. There is a separate dining room if you want to entertain more formally.
Upstairs are the 3 bedrooms (one has space for an additional bed if required) and recently refitted bathroom.

Who we are

  1. Marilyn and myself, Philip, are retired. Our son James still lives with us and works as a computer engineer. Our 2 daughters live in Sydney and the younger, Laura, is getting married in March 2011 so we shall visit Sydney for several weeks around that date.
We are also interested in the longer term as we plan to visit at other times in the future.
Marilyn is a retired librarian and an active member of U3A (University of the 3rd Age) with all sorts of interests in gardens history and family ancestry. I am more of the pottering round the garden type though I enjoy travel and new places and people.
We have not done a home exchange before but are very keen to ensure that the exchange is interesting and enjoyable for our partners in the swap.

Where is it?

Your neighbourhood

Farnsfield is an interesting village with good local shops church and pubs. It is set in an agricultural area close to historic Nottingham with its legend of Robin Hood and Sherwood Forest is close by. Other historical cities such as York and Lincoln are easy to reach by car or public transport. And for those who enjoy outdoor activities the beautiful Peak District and Yorkshire Moors or Dales can be reached within an hour and a half by car.
In fact this area is very central for the rest of the UK and is well served by the motorway and railway systems (nowhere in England is very far away), Wales and Scotland are a bit further away. There are several local airports and Heathrow Birmingham and Manchester are within 3 hours drive.
