Our home

Our home is a big and brilliant family house in a quintessentially English hamlet of only 22 houses, which also has a wonderful theatre based in a 300 year old watermill and a Michelin started typical English pub.

Our home would make a great exchange if you're looking for a family reunion in the UK as it can accommodate a lot of people easily. The house has a ground floor and then 2 floors above with 6 bedrooms, 4 bathrooms (2 ensuite) and a cinema.

On the ground floor there's a utility room, lounge and large kitchen/diner/playroom which has a table that easily sits 12, not including the breakfast bar which sits 4. {We've also got an additional table and seating (stored in the garage) which means you can easily accommodate sit down for meals for 18}.

There's a TV in the playroom area of the kitchen, with 3 large sofas, and lots and lots of toys - we have 2 girls and 2 boys so there's a good mix of all sorts of things to play with.

And if you need to escape for a bit of quiet; the lounge has lots of big, comfy leather sofas and chairs, a TV, a wood burning stove, a piano and piles of books. A good place for a snooze.

Upstairs there's the large cinema room with its own bar area - this is a great place to chill out with the kids or to put the disco ball on, put some music on, and have a dance!

The house has lovely views across fields and woods and is (almost) next to the pretty River Lambourne which is full of trout and crayfish. Lots of walks and bike rides outside the garden gate (Snelsmore Common is great for biking and BBQs http://www.bbowt.org.uk/reserves/snelsmore-common) and there's a Civil War Castle 10 mins walk away (http://www.english-heritage.org.uk/visit/places/donnington-castle). And if, after all that, you're in need of refreshment there's a fantastic typical English pub all of 1 minutes walk away which is super kid and dog friendly (with a great outdoor playarea).

Our home is a great place to chill with family and friends. And the best bit is, that even though you're in the middle of the countryside, London is only a fast train ride away, and Bath and Oxford are only 40 minutes in the car. You get the best of both worlds.

Who we are

  1. We are a busy and outgoing family of 6, John & Thea; with Henna 12, Elspeth 10, Pippin 6 and Beau 3. We are very excited about "home exchange" as we believe it will allow the family to experience some wonderful places.
We are respectful and will treat your home like it was ours.
Our family love being outside: horse riding, body surfing, walking and exploring.

  2. John works from home and Thea is a stay at home mum. We've got a little dog and would love to take her travelling with us. Any dog friendly home exchangers out there?! She sleeps in a crate, is not allowed on the furniture or upstairs - she's very well behaved!

  3. We enjoy entertaining and our home is big and able to accommodate lots of people easily.
